T Tuesday: summer wrap up edition

These last few weeks of summer have us trying to squeeze every bit of summer fun and activities that we can. We’ve already started the school ramp up. Orientation yesterday…during the second half of the eclipse…nice timing people. At least it was raining like crazy at that time so no one cared.

Speaking of the eclipse…did anyone see it? I built a couple boxes in case the clouds cleared. We got peeks at it as it was eclipsing.

The clouds rolled in thick enough to obscure our view minutes before the greatest point of totality in our region. It was very strange though….the temperature suddenly dropped and the crickets started chirping. So awesome…just wish we could have seen as well as felt it.

The eclipse reminds me that I should show you my still work in progress of the acrylic pour project.

Somehow I seem to have lost the chipboard 3 overnight….I’m guessing Marvin had something to do with that.  I think I’m going to paint the numbers either white or black…leaning towards white. Then seal the whole works before attaching the clock parts.

I’ve also been playing around with my button collection again…

I have some ideas for projects. More button stacks. I just love how they look.

Over the weekend we had an evening that was just perfect for a fire. Hot dogs for dinner anyone?

As I waited for the fire to get going I checked out the garden. Late summer has done a number on some of the plants.

Such as the pumpkin  plant..totally dead and gone.

The green beans have totally taken over. I’m surprised since they were really poor early in the season….which is completely opposite of the last few years. I’ll definitely have some spicy beans to can.

And diced tomatoes as well.

Since the thick humidity, as seen here over the weekend, has finally cleared out. I’ll likely tackle the canning today in between playing taxi driver of course.

What are you doing today?

It looks like you’ve had a fun filled summer and it’s an amazing feeling when the temperatures drop due to the eclipse, isn’t it ?. Your acrylic pouring is stunning and how wonderful that it’s going to be a clock. I think white numbers would look lovely and I had to smile about Marvin taking the chipboard 3 … lol … what on earth would he want with it … lol ?. Hot dogs sitting round the fire sounds perfect and your garden produce looks delicious – Happy T Day! J ?

We were at 90% totality Halle… and had a clear day.. I thought we would get darker than what we did at 90%…. We didn’t look at the eclipse… i just wanted to experience being out in it.. The quality of light was like it gets just before a bad storm… anyway a little disappointed it didn’t get darker.. I may have to travel to 100% next time… I have never heard of button stacks before so i had to go check out your link… I love them too… that is so cool!! Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb

I saw the eclipse by looking down, but it wasn’t total. I did feel a drop in temperature, but it quickly rebounded. For some reason, it wasn’t as awesome as I expected it would be. Personally, I thought the hype was bigger than the event. Loved seeing the kids, though.

I really LOVE your chiminea. It is so much bigger than mine and the opening is much larger, too.

Wow, you have got a ton of tomatoes and it sounds like a bunch of green beans, too. Very impressive.

I really LOVE that clock. I want to make a pour, but did you just use acrylic paint after the gesso, or did you add a gel medium? Had to laugh at Marvin. Cats do the craziest things. That is why mine aren’t allowed in my craft room.

thanks for sharing your eclipse photos, the garden, your clock, and your water with us for T this Tuesday.

That’s an awesome photo of the kids viewing the eclipse with their homemade viewers, Halle.

The clock is looking beautiful! I don’t know how to do acrylic pour painting. It’s quite an unusual effect.

Your tomatoes are gorgeous. Looks like you had a bumper crop.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

The boxes worked well, didn’t they! I was impressed. We had the same almost experience with eclipse and clouds that you did. The clock is delightful, such lovely colors. I like the idea of hot dog roasting in the chiminea and really need to try it. Your tomatoes will giving you reminders of the garden for quite a while :)

I think your clock will be amazing Halle. And I know what you mean about the garden. You had a good tomato crop-better than mine turned out- but I have even seen a few yellow leaves and even a few whole yellowed leaf branches on trees. Summer is winding down. Happy belated T day. Erika

sorry for being late, i was out of town…
i also remember the experience of darkness and temperature-dropping at an eclipse we had in 1999 over here. it was a bit of eerie silence for a Minute or two.
your clock is GREAT! and your garden fruits, oh my, what a treasure!
