    Wish

With this piece I changed size but not format. It’s still a loose leaf page but instead of 7×10 inches, it measures 6×8. I had a few random 6×8 pieces of scrapbook paper in my stash. Likely from a garage sale. I was drawn to the teal color as well as the bright green leafy strip which was originally at the top of the page.  However it had a hole punched in the center.

I decided I need some layers to take care of that problem. I have a box of Project Life cards in my stash that are very neutral. The card had a blank space that perfectly fit the green strip. I zigzag stitched the strip across the entire page.

Then I began playing with other elements to complete my collage while covering the hole in the green strip. I found the perfect ruffle in my stash of ruffles. I like to mass make them with fabric strips I have laying around. They definitely come in handy.

Bird image is from a Tim Holtz ephemera pack and was the right size for the tag I picked out. The clock and wish label were cut from a magazine ages ago and hoarded away until now. I have a cigar box of images and fussy cuts that I’ve amassed over time. Again making it easy when I’m looking for just the right something to add to a page. The little yellow flower is an iron-on, I believe. It was a great topper for the tag and covered the hole in the tag as well.

I’m very pleased with this page and it will make a great addition to my planner journal.

    Vintage Dressmaker

The very first elements of this page were definitely not heading me in the direction of my “I’ve got a notion” theme. I was just playing and seeing where my creativity would take me.

The substrate is a yellow piece of copy paper I had used to protect my mat while painting and stamping. I added gelatos to deepen the color and give a more cohesive color scheme. The landscape image came next. It was salvaged from a calendar. It felt very “frontier” to me. I then added the western union scrapbook paper. Definitely heading to old west.

Then the dress form cutout literally fell into my lap from a package. It was meant to be. I had another page for my theme.

The ruler and spool label helped round out the thought for me.

I’m quite happy with the way it turned out…especially since I wasn’t planning on this page to begin with.

    T Tuesday: summer days edition

Nothing beats summer in Minnesota if you ask me. It’s the reason we put up with the harsh winters.

I’ve been trying to get myself back on track with walking in the morning. I like to do it as early as possible but some mornings I can’t seem to get the lead out.

I’m so fortunate to have beautiful and well maintained places to walk. Just around the bend of the above photo I spotted a place where the fairies live. 🙂

It was so cute. I’m glad the park service let it stay there.

As I continued on my walk I got to our city center park which hosts a carnival and street dance the 3rd of July. Everyone was working hard to get things set up for the afternoon. Mini-me and I went up for a little while and hung out with our neighbors. It’s always a good time.

Yesterday Mini-me and I walked at the MN Landscape Arboretum. They have a nice 3 mile walking trail that we enjoy. There are benches of varying ages throughout the walk to rest or contemplate.

My garden is doing quite well. I’ve harvested 2 cucumbers and 2 jalapenos so far.

I’m hoping the tomatoes will begin to ripen soon.

Today has me working on some boring chores in the house. I got my walk in though. I plan to spend more time outside as well even if it’s just weeding.
    What are you doing today?
