    November Dress

    This month I decided to go a little more traditional for the Dress-up Project.

    An evening gown with lace shawl.

    I was totally in love with this fabric and just had to use it for something. There happened to be a nice scallop in the pattern so I used it to my advantage. I simply cut along it for an interesting hem.  I added the lace underskirt for that little extra kick.

    This was a no sew dress since I put away my sewing machine and have vowed not to take it back out until I finish some other projects. Hot glue works wonders!!

    Of course, then yesterday I get a call from a friend asking if I’d hem her son’s hockey jerseys. I’ll be doing those by hand today since the stitching will have to be removed in the spring before turning them back in. All I can say is EWW…nasty sweaty boys hockey jersey’s worn year after year by different kids. BLECH! But I digress…

    For November Margaret asked that we also show the wardrobes we’ve completed for the dresses. I went ahead and did that a while ago but here’s a little shot of what it looks like inside today.

    Tea Tuesday

    For months now I’ve been enjoying the Tea Tuesday posts on some of my favorite blogs. I wanted to join in myself so I asked Kimmie, our hostess, if she’d mind if I joined the tea party. Being the gracious host that she is…she agreed.

    I decided since this was my very first Tea Tuesday that I should celebrate and bring out the good china. In fact, I have NEVER drank out of on of these cups until today.

    As a kid, this set of dishes was brought out for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter…that’s it. It was my Grandma’s and last year was handed down to me from my folks. I’ve actually only ever eaten off the dinner plates…and that wasn’t until I was a teenager that that privilege was allowed.
    I must have been quite the clumsy child. 🙂

    With my tea, I’m enjoying a special Norwegian treat called Krumkake. My mom bought it at a church Lutefisk supper over the weekend. I usually make some around Christmas so this is a real treat to have some now.

    After I finished up some more miniature terrain this afternoon, I had some leftover paint on my palette. Since I really hate waste anything, I grabbed my art journal and made a quick page.  I left plenty of room for future writing or what ever my heart desires at the moment.

    It felt really good to work with paper again! I’ve taken a bit of a break from it while working on my miniatures…which I also love but oh! the satisfaction of finishing something in one sitting..or standing, as the case was for me today. Miniatures don’t work that way…they are painstakingly slow.
