Last week we figured out that the large tree that shades the deck was infested with aphids…ugh… I called around locally to see if anyone sold ladybugs which are a natural predator of the aphids. What better than to use nature to control nature instead of pesticides. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any place locally so I turned to the internet to order some.
I ordered 1500 Ladybugs. I’ve linked them in case someone is interested.
The instructions said to release them in stages…not all at once.
I walked around the yard releasing some in various places to give enough space and feeding grounds to establish a colony.
I’m pleased to be finding them around…I’ve even found larvae or pupa stage ladybugs which is very encouraging.
My garden is full and I really don’t want pests chewing it up.
I did have a mishap while out taking photos for this post. Such a bummer!!! This mug was given to me by a student that I spent hours online with as a part of distance learning while schools were in lockdown during the pandemic.
It was a very fitting mug for that time. Oh well…life goes on…not going to cry over spilled coffee. ๐
I’ll leave you with Marvin going on his supervised outings to sniff for bunnies and other friends that may have happened by.
Today has me chipping away at a to-do list as usual. I got my 4 mile walk in this morning so that feels great!
Stop back tomorrow…I’ve got a little surprise in the works.

I bought ladybugs one time, but I was lucky that I could find them locally. They work great to get rid of all kinds of nasty predators.
So sorry to read about your mug. It was great that you showed what it was like in its original shape. At least you have the memories.
Nice to see Marvin overseeing everything. Thanks for sharing your ladybugs, Marvin, and your mug with us for T this Tuesday, dear Halle.
That’s so cool that you bought ladybugs. I agree, it’s a much better idea than sprays. plus they are always fun to see around your yard. And your garden looks amazing! I love summer and how everything grows. Give Marvin a pat for me and have a wonderful T day. I’ll be stopping by your AJJ pages shortly. hugs-Erika
Wow! Amazing! I had no idea you could order ladybugs! Great post today. I will try to remember to come back tomorrow. Happy T Day.
I didn’t know one could buy ladybirds online. What a good idea. Much better than pesticides.
Shame about the mug but as you say, life goes on and I personally would rather forget about Covid and don’t need a reminder.(Yes, for you it was about remembering the student, I get that).
Well done you for going on a 4 mile walk. I’ve just signed up to a walking and exercise app and I’ve started already. Together with a healthy diet, I should be a bit fitter next month and hopefully have lost a few pounds.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Great way to fight nature, beautiful and clever! And yay for the morning-walk,good idea, as itยดs getting light when I get up at 05:00 a.m.!
Have a great T-Day and start of July.
It’s wonderful that you bought the ladybirds/bugs, so much better and more effective than sprays – fabulous! Sorry to see your mug all broken, when I broke one of my favourite mugs, I stuck it back together and now it sits in my craft room as a pen holder ๐. Wishing you a very Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
