    T Tuesday: minecraft edition

Hello and welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday.

It’s been a pretty standard week for me…work, home and errands keep me busy. I was tasked with a project by Mini-me though. She has been playing Minecraft for 10 years now. If you’ve never heard of it, here’s a very basic explanation…it is pixel and block based building game so everything is square but check out the link if you want to know more.

She wanted to make the windows in her room look like glass blocks in Minecraft.

Out came the Silhouette portrait machine. We fudged the blocks slightly so that they would be attached for easy placement. Something you’d never notice on the final product unless I told you.

My crafty neighbor had gifted me with some white vinyl a while back, I wasn’t sure how it would work but Lord knows I kept it just in case. It actually worked perfectly!

Look at the fun shadows it creates as the sun sets.

I can’t leave without sharing a sweet photo of Marvin on Caturday Saturday.

And this is just a photo of Marvin being very helpful as Mini-me works on her classes.

I’m totally loving my new mugs with one minor issue…I usually bring a cup of coffee with me to drink on my way to work. My new mugs do not fit in the cup holder of my van. Yes, I use really mugs with open tops in the van. I’m a nut, its okay, I’m good with it.

T Tuesday: Happy New Year edition

2018….wow! I remember thinking as a young girl that I’d be “so old” when the millennium changed. The last 18 years have flown by and I’m not that old at all! 😉

We went to the neighbors to celebrate on New Years Eve…thank goodness it was just across the street because we’ve been in the deep freeze like much of the country. Lots of food and sweet treats as well as some games.

This was a new one to me…a Christmas gift one of the party goers brought along. It was ok but you definitely need a group of people all around the same age to “get” the jokes you had to make up with random cards.

The kids and I head back to school Tuesday. It’s shocking how quickly 11 days can go. It was so cold that we really didn’t do much outside the home. We had company for Christmas Eve and Day, Mini-me got her braces off and celebrated her birthday.

Mr. G had tried to get tickets to a play the day after Christmas as soon as he found out he was off that day. The shows that day were sold out, so instead he cleaned up the kitchen after Christmas. Best gift ever!!

There were so many dishes over a 3 day period…including the mixing bowl and bundt pan used to make this little gem. This rum cake has become a Christmas tradition at our house. We tried a different rum this year. It wasn’t bad but I think next year I’ll stick with the Captain Morgan.

We’ve been battling against the frigid temps…there are icicles on the inside of my windows…no joke.

As I sat down to do a bit of knitting while Mini-me played a video game I grabbed the remote for the gas fireplace. BRRR…no wonder I was feeling the need for my quilt. I’m sure our lovely host Elizabeth will scoff at that temp but that’s cold enough for me.

I’ve gotten a bit further on my knit hat. I’m realizing now that it won’t be adult sized. Since I’m pattern challenged and not much of a rule follower, I didn’t use the right size yarn or needles according to the pattern basically because I didn’t have any. Oh well. I’ll find someone this hat fits.

The kids start archery tomorrow after school so that should be interesting to hear about.

I’m thinking I’m going to give a photo challenge a go again now that the commitments seem to be fewer again at home. This is my challenge.

    T Tuesday: WIP edition

    WIP catan pieces

I’ve working on painting all of the Settlers of Catan pieces in between playing nursemaid. Mini-me has influenza. I’m beginning to think that Typhoid Mary is camped out in our house.

    WIP catan pieces

See those little tiny bits of white in the green hex tiles. Those are teeny tiny sheep..complete with black faces. I have to take off my glasses and hold the tile a couple inches from my face to see to paint them.  BAH!!! Getting older isn’t for the faint of heart.

The attention to detail is worth it in the end though.  Once I get all the pieces completed, we’ll decide in the border color for all the tiles. It must be consistent throughout the tiles. I’m leaning towards a cream to taupe tone so that the paint job on each will really pop.

I also have to share this Model T Mr. G printed. He had to modify the original CAD file as it wasn’t going to print correctly. He designed the wheels, axle pieces and the mounts for the axles.

The penny is for scale. This is for a history presentation J is doing today. He and his partner thought a 3D model would add some punch to their project.

Time for a bit of tea before some errands and more nursemaid duty.  I’ll do my best to get around to visit my T stands for Tuesday friends as soon as I can.
