    The right track

A couple days ago I sat down to journal. The train image literally fell into my lap as I bumped a stack of papers while reaching for something else. I often take that as a message. “Use this…you won’t be sorry.”  20140803_6728

An unexpected thing happened to the bright shiny image as I applied it with liquid matte medium…the image “aged”. I love it when things work out like that!!

I went in search of words and “the railroad tracks” were on the second page I picked up. Again…meant to be.

Last night I was perusing Pinterest and came across this Will Rogers quote:

Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

    A gift of understanding

I started this journal page before working yesterday…I’ve been at the schools a lot this week between working and volunteering…so my creative time has been pretty much nil.understandingI put on my apron and was very careful with my paint so I wouldn’t mess up my nice clothes. I completed the background before leaving for work. Whew…no splatters on me.

Later in the afternoon I had some down time and I started thinking about my day. Actually my week…and the kids I’ve come into contact with at school. The reason for the position is for extra support for those who need it. Some of them can be very angry and resentful towards you…but today it just all clicked for me. I didn’t take it personally at all…getting yelled at by a teen boy the same size as you isn’t all that fun. This hasn’t always been the easiest thing for me which is why I prefer to not work in EBD classes. However, amidst the yelling, I had a moment of clarity and saw that the yelling wasn’t about me even though it was directed solely towards me. It was pure frustration that had been building all week…not that it was the proper way for him to handle it….but this moment was a great learning experience for me as well.  I received the gift of understanding.

I didn’t think of it in those words but they fell into my lap when I sat down to finish my page. Love it when that happens!

    Feeling inspired

Ever have a day and you wake up feeling inspired? That was how I felt this morning. I popped out of bed, started coffee, had a little quiet time and yoga. I headed off to the basement with my mind set to create.

    time slips away

I wasn’t planning on using this journal but since it was prepped and ready to go with the background that was speaking to me at the moment…I went for it.

    prepped journal

As I started painting in green…my muse said…nope. Turquoise is the color of the day. I covered up the green and was pleased with the subtle shading the layers had created.

The page came together so quickly…I was amazed.

    teadyed lace

The last little accent I added was a bit of tea dyed lace. I carefully cut around the medallion. It was perfect for the spot.

I don’t often get really excited about my pages but this one has me smiling!
