Just yesterday I was thinking about buying a planner to help me keep a better handle on my blog and personal/family commitments. The family uses a shared digital calendar but I feel the need for something personal as well especially for the blog and art stuff. All of a sudden I remembered the art calendar challenge. It honestly feels like more than 5 years ago but there it is…2014.

Take a look…

December complete!
2014 art calendar challengeThis challenge hosted by Kate has been a good one for me.  I was able to stay on track and have ended up with a great keepsake from 2014.

From the start, I had the idea in my head of what I wanted the end product to look like.

After taking this photo I decided that perhaps gluing the pages together would give it more visual appeal. 2014 art calendar challenge

And I was right…  In addition, it provided stability to the binding.

I’m in love with how this looks. I don’t want to come off as patting myself on the back but I have to admit that I’m so happy that my vision of this project actually came to fruition. 2014 art calendar challenge

I might just be making myself a planner after all. We’ll see if I get inspired enough, quickly enough. HA!

Thanks for stopping by for Second on the 2nd.

Is that just a Minnesota thing?  I’d have to assume the H E double hockey sticks part of it anyway.  But it IS cold today. So cold, they closed school.  I haven’t been out of the house since Saturday when I stocked up at the grocery store.

I’ve been crafting, cleaning and reading.

art journal

I completed the last pages in my journal which happened to be the last page of the book and the first.art journal

I didn’t plan it that way…it just happened.  All that’s left is to remove the library plastic and alter the covers.

I’m also working on completing my 2014 art calendar project. Here’s a little sneak peek.

And I couldn’t leave you today without showing my reinbeers

a gift of reinbeersI made them for my neighbor whose b-day happens to be New Year’s Eve.  This is a crummy photo but I snapped it quick before we left. He told me they were too cute to drink.

I’m totally on time this month! Even a day early a few might say.

november complete

December is ready to go…

december

All that is left of this challenge is binding the calendar pages into the book I selected. I have a plan in my head…lets just see if it translates to reality in the same way.

It suddenly occurred to me the other day that I never showed my October calendar completed nor had I even made my November. Geesh…talk about falling behind.

oct finished

I love the colors of Fall…warm and cozy.

My November page I’m not so fond of…the color dried my lighter and more pinkish than expected. But I’m just going to roll with it. I totally forgot to photograph November before writing on it….oh well. It’s a sneak preview.

Yes, I know it’s already the 10th of September. Happy Birthday MOM! But I have been a busy girl including but not limited to…taking my mom out for her 85th b-day today.

OK…enough of that stuff…on with the calendars.august complete

Here we have my completed and date corrected August calendar. I forgot that there were 31 days in August initially.  I made it work though.september

And then, of course, I lay out September and what do I do…add August 31st to September. DUH!! Showing my blonde self, I guess.

Here’s to an uneventful month. :)

We had a very busy July…not that I’m complaining one little bit. It was busy for all the right reasons. Activities, staycationing then vacationing through the end the month.

July 2014

I doubt August will be filled with quite as many trips and travels…unless you count trips to the store for back-to-school shopping. Yikes…the fresh air and sunshine made those kids grow like weeds! Nothing fits…

I used pressed flower stickers for the embellishment. My neighbor that hosts craft club passed a bunch of these stickers on to me last year.  They are really pretty but I haven’t found many places that they seem a natural embellishment. I believe these are meant as seals for envelopes.
