This very exciting for me… Someone picked one of my items for their Treasury. Which, if I correctly understand, means that for a time the treasury is featured on Etsy’s homepage.
See the scarf in the lower left….mine.  Silly, I know, but it makes me happy.

He lost his tuxedo…so my 8yr old found this ensemble for him.
***I must apologize in advance to all the die-hard Barbie/Ken fans out there.***
It is kind of amusing though….in a weird 80’s glam rock sort of way….

I just realized that I published my Friday Freebie…on Thursday. That’s what happens when I try to get ahead for once…I mess it up.

Here’s today’s freebie. Or you could just scroll down. :)

Last year I set some goals for myself so I figured I had better fess up and see what I actually accomplished.
I’m rating myself with a stoplight system for lack of a better way.

This is my 2010 list:

ART:

  • learn to knit -Need more practice but have the concept down
  • use the supplies I have instead of buying new -only purchased garage sale/thrift store supplies
  • finish my circles quilt –DONE
  • open an Etsy shop –open, stocked and have made 2 sales!
  • complete my Nature altered book –not yet but am getting closer
  • Be Creative Every Day -it’s not always art but I feel I do something creative most days

SELF:

  • get back to eating healthy –the holidays have been a set back
  • get back to my exercise routine –not at the level I want to be…goal needs to continue for sure.
HOME:
  • paint the kitchen cupboards –nope
  • plant more veggies –Yes..will plant more next year
  • de-cluttter in prep for a monster garage sale –YES! huge sale
  • repurpose and recycle more –hard to measure this one but I think I have

I must be a glass half-full kind of person because I see the goals that I haven’t quite met not as failures as some would but as stairs I have climbed on my way to the goal.
Over all I’m glad I made this list. Obviously, I didn’t do everything I wanted to but really…who does?  I’m going to think about my goals for 2011 now. I think accountability is a great motivator.

We got hammered by a winter storm here…  We got 15.5 inches at our house…but since the wind was blowing so hard we have drifts that are 4-5ft high in places while some spots are bare ground.

Here’s a photo out our back patio door.  See the cool swirl pattern in the snow!  Up to the left between our house and the neighbors there was a 5ft drift.

So in between shoveling and attempting to use the snowblower. I’ve been working on some crafty stuff.

I cleaned my sewing machine..changed thread on both the bobbin and spool…and it seems to be working a bit better.

I made a couple more journal covers..

We also put together our Gingerbread house kit from Trader Joe’s. I think it turned out pretty cute. Maybe next year I’ll do the really deal and not buy the kit.  I know my girl and I will be making one at her Holiday party at school as well…except with graham crackers. Like these ones.

And in case you hadn’t heard what a crazy storm we had here yet…here’s a YouTube video of the Metrodome…now known as Mall of America Field..collapsing.

What a crazy snow storm! We’ve been hearing…”we’ll be getting a bit of snow this weekend” but then yesterday they started changing their tune…

We’ll be getting quite a bit of snow!

I was up at midnight and the snow was just covering the grassy areas.

This was the view of my garden box at 11AM.

This is what is looked like during summer… just a few short months back.

The snow had pretty much stopped for a little while but has once again started falling. The boys are out cleaning the ends of driveways now that the plow finally went through. Ah…the joys of living in MN, although I can’t imagine it any other way!

that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month?  Well, it IS in case you were confused.  About a week ago, I  added a new badge to my sidebar stating as such…

Breast cancer has special meaning in my life…  My mom is a survivor.  I was actually born AFTER her radical mastectomy…even more shocking was that I was born within that critical 5 year window.  My parents met AFTER mom’s cancer.

All that being said…  Be aware of your “girls”…know your body… something seems odd…get it checked!!
I had my first mammogram at age 26 as a baseline… Nothing to be afraid of. Take charge of your health, of your body…it’s the only one you have!

I will now step down off my soap box and return you to your regularly scheduled programing…thank you and good night.
