T Tuesday: back to journaling edition

I can’t even remember the last time I sat down to art journal. But I finally did! It felt so good, so natural, like I have been doing it all along. So why haven’t I been??

I used my wonky junky journal to step back into the game. I love that it is so random…no expectations…no limits. If I want to exclusively write…fine. If I want to only paint…fine. If I feel in love with glue and paper…that’s fine too. With the variety of papers as pages I have endless possibilities.

I didn’t think at all. Just let it happen.

I made this little journal flip the my words would be hidden. Not that they are so very private but I didn’t want to clutter up the simplicity.

Since I didn’t share any garden photos last week I thought I should snap a couple to show some progress.

I ‘ve been battling a pest problem in the shed garden. We have a vole living under the shed or in the compost pile. It is getting in the garden and nipping off my plants. The little bugger doesn’t even eat them!! Just cuts them down like its a lumberjack felling trees. I have reinforced the fence…still I found more nibbled plants today. UGH!!! So frustrating. Short of poison, I’m at a loss as to the solution to my pest issue.

Notice the condensation on my pint? That means it actually rained and we have some humidity in the air. We are still super dry but at least there was some precipitation. I never thought I’d be thankful for humid air.

Lastly I have to share the haul I got from a garage sale last Thursday. As I walked up the driveway I saw this box filled with papers and such. I had to ask…is the box really free…as in all of it? Yes. Yes it was. I snapped that up like it was gold. I actually got a bunch of things from the sale…this was the only crafty related item.

Monday was an errand day for me…Tuesday is an at home day. I really need to knock some items off my ever present list since it just keeps getting longer!

Love the journal. Ugh, moles. My cat Mitty used to bring me a decapitated mole as a gift every. single. morning. I just read you might be able to get rid of moles by planting things they don’t like. Daffs and marigolds. Or by spraying a solution of castor oil and soap on your plants. More info here Happy T Day!

Hello Halle, It does feel good to get back to what we enjoy-that’s what I have been doing with my weaving-it’s been awhile.
Your garden is looking great. we finally got some rain in this week-we really needed it. Last year the chipmunks ate all of my tomatoes-couldn’t believe that, this year so far they snipped off a tomato plant near the base-I caught it soon enough to cover it up with lots of soil and it grew roots and is growing again.
Free is always a great find-enjoy! Happy T

Cute little rodent pests are a real challenge. Rabbits have been chewing our hostas down to stubs: so my husband put up little cages to protect them. First squirrels then chipmunks figured out how to take all the birdseed from the feeder. That took a lot of adjustments. It’s a constant war on the rodents, though we are not aware of any voles right now.

Good luck with your rodent war.

Halle well done with the stash, some great colours.
Your garden is lovely, shame about your plants being eaten, is the vole getting in by burrowing under the fence? We have wood lice eating the strawberries, they do eat quite a bit of them so I don’t mind a few, just that I really don’t like them as we have so quite big ones.

Wow, that free box is great Halle. Good find. And I have a garden suggestion but I don’t know if works for voles. I know with moles they say you can put some mothballs in the tunnels. They don’t like the smell and leave. Your journal page is amazing. Great colors and details. I hope you have a great T day and July 4th too. Hugs-Erika

    Love your work.
Hehe, just yesterday I just yet again got something for free.
Glad to see it goes around the world! I give away, too.

What a bummer to have a pest in your vegetable garden. All your hard work. Perhaps you have to extend the fence underground like one does with a chicken coup (to keep the foxes out who burrow underneath the fence)
Wow! Lucky you to get this box of goodies for free! That was really good.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

How wonderful you got all those cards and envies free. I know it made you very happy.

Your journal spread is beautiful. I like how you “uncluttered” it, too.

I’m in awe of your tomato plants on the deck. Mine is still so tiny, it doesn’t need to be staked yet. Lucky you, except for the vole.

I love the vignette you created with the cold drink. It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your art, your freebie, your gardens, and your drink with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

Free?! and everything looks in good shape. Nice :)

Your pots are really growing! I’m sorry about your pest. We decided to use poison when we saw rats, and sometimes I wish there was a poison for squirrels *sigh* but I understand an unwillingness to go that route. I hope you find something that’ll deter the pesky critters.

    Happy T Tuesday

a lovely journal spread Halle. Of course your garden is so lush- just too bad about the pesky vole. we have had a few already but we never did anything so I have no idea what happened unless one of the stray cats in our area nabbed them. Great stash of papers! Enjoy, and happy T day!

Great journal page – love the layers and different sections. Very fun. Keep it up – your page is great. Love your garden – I am having a pest AND a rattle snake problem so I can relate.

Glad you saw condensation – makes the pint look cooler too.

Great find at the garage sale – we donated tons of paper this weekend as we cleaned out my very sold storage to make room for family moving in – very sad (but happy too). Hugz

I love your wonky journal and the new page you made – hopefully many more to come! Your garden is looking great hope you solve the pest problem. Years ago at our caravan I bought plants that were supposed to be rabbit proof – then we found it wasn’t the rabbits but ducks!!! Your pint looks great- hope you get just a little more rain! What a great find that paper was! Thanks for your wise words on my blog, Happy T Day, hugs, Chrisx
