T Tuesday: candle mug edition

Last updated : April 11, 2016

Thanks for stopping by today for T stands for Tuesday hosted by Elizabeth, Dr. E (yep she’s got a Ph.D), Queen of Free, caretaker of Bleubeard, teacher extraordinaire and all around nice gal. How’s that for an intro!?!

I’m getting a bit stir crazy again…I’ve had at least one sick kid since last Wednesday. I’ve been disinfecting everything they touch or at least trying. I’m scheduled to work later this week and it would be just like it for me to get deathly ill for that day.

Once again I’m not showing my mug of tea…yes, I’m drinking a cup of Twinings Lady Grey but its in my ugliest mug. I just can’t post that…yuck. I might even throw this one out today…stained and ugly.

But I will show you the mug candle I made last week.

candle tea

I picked up the mug at Goodwill a while back. I recycled my candle bits and made a new candle with a touch of fragrance oil and colorant.  The mug seems very Scandinavian in design although I think it’s just a cheapy from HomeGoods.

watching and waitingMiss Gracie keeps thinking now that there is no ice on the inside of the windows that she should be able to go outside. She sits…waiting and watching…ever hopeful I’ll take her out. Nope…not going to happen honey. She’d get lost in the deep snow…another 4-8 inches are coming on Thursday…oh joy.

I thought this article about Lake Superior being 95% frozen over this year and for the first time since 2009 people can walk over the ice to the Apostle Islands was really interesting and the photos are fantastic.

Maybe this post should have been named T Tuesday: random thoughts edition, since I was really all over the place today. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. :)

What are you doing today??

What a FANTASTIC intro. Gotta love it. Even Bleubeard is smiling. Or maybe he’s smiling at Gracie, not sure which.

I’ve always been in awe of your candle cups. I’ve never had the luck you have because my wax always sinks to the middle, and subsequent pours don’t cover or compensate for the sink hole. Some day we’ll actually meet and make soap, candle cups, and applesauce. OK, not so much on the applesauce.

Hope the kiddos and you find a way to all be well at the same time. Winter has really taken its toll this year. BTW, I saw photos of Lake Superior from space. Stunning and very eye opening.

your cup/candle is lovely. i’ve never tried to do that, though i’ve made candles in the past. i just never thought of using a cup for that.

i’m not a winter person and am always ready for the weather to show a warming trend; but i remember one year reelfoot lake froze so that you could walk out onto it, and that made all that cold weather worth it to me lol i’m from the south, and we just never get that much frozen water around here.

Hello and Happy T Day! I LOVE LOVE your candle mug, how awesome that you made it. This would be a nice gift idea, will keep this in mind for the holidays. Not a good day for anyone human or animal to be out, crazy weather just keeps coming. Today we finally did get into the 30’s, but no window open yet. I can’t wait to walk outside without a coat and boots on. Sorry to hear you have a sick one, sending feel better wishes for the kids and stay healthy wishes for you. I’m not surprised at all the frozen lakes this year, soooo cold this winter. Beautiful picture!!
I peeked at your posts below and love your little journal, so pretty.
Thank you for the nice visit today!

I couldn’t think of a thing to post for T Tuesday this week, but wanted to stop by anyway to see what you were up to. Sorry to hear your kiddos have been sick and I do hope you manage to avoid it!

We got 40 inches in the mountains this past week – and we thank our lucky stars it wasn’t 10 degrees cooler here at sea level. I feel sorry for you Halle …. It’s pretty, but that is little consolation …..
