T Tuesday: Christmas wrap(up) edition

Hello and welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday! You may have noticed that I’ve been gone a while. I talked about my back saga in the previous post so we are moving on to something more festive and fun!

Since we were hosting Christmas (because I love it!) I had to lean on the rest of the family to do all of the heavy and not so heavy lifting.

Even the simple things like getting a cake in and out of the oven.

The past few years I’ve made a rum cake for Christmas but this time I went for a Fireball Whiskey cake. It was so good. I forgot to take a photo of it with the icing…likely because it wasn’t very pretty.

We had overnight guests on Christmas eve…Mini-me gave up her bed and slept on the couch. Of course, this meant that she was up even earlier than she usually is. She is my early bird kid.

It was a long wait…even with me making all kinds of noise in the kitchen.

This was my favorite present under the tree…it’s hard to wrap arrows. Mini-me needed a new set for archery season which is just days away.

Marvin had to be a part of the chaos…bows are his favorite.

I suppose the whiskey cake could have been my “beverage” for T stands for Tuesday but instead, I thought I’d share the tiniest cocktail I’ve ever seen. My BIL brought this over. It wasn’t anything I cared for but the can sure was cute.

I’ve been working on purging my rubber stamps. I was so frustrated digging through them trying desperately to find a Happy Anniversary stamp since I had promised my MIL that I’d make her some cards. I had a bunch of bases completed they just needed a sentiment and the also requested “shiny butterflies”. Thankfully I have a very crafty neighbor who is willing to share. Thanks, KW!

The “shiny butterflies” have the big wow factor but are pretty easy to make. I stamped each butterfly on white card stock with black Staz-on ink. I used watercolor paint to colorize each. After completely dry, I fussy cut each and placed on a non-stick surface. I coated each one with Diamond glaze. As they dry a slight curl happens quite naturally giving them an even more “lifelike” appearance.

I have now looked through every single one of my stamps and alas…I never even had a Happy Anniversary stamp. ugh. Well, now I do…I bought a set of sentiments at Michaels. I’m sure you’ll be seeing some cards in the near future with these words.

Today is Mini-me’s 17th birthday. I can hardly believe it.

I was planning to go out and get her favorite meal… Chipotle…but we are getting a snowstorm. It remains to be seen if we venture out or not.

Speaking of crazy storms and slippery conditions….have you seen this video?

The video was taken a few miles from our house. Mini-me had friends on that bus heading to a girls’ hockey tournament.

What are you doing today?

I hope your back continues to heal and more quickly. That sure throws a wrench into the holidays. I’m glad there were people to step in and assist.

The Christmas wrapped arrows make me think of the Range Rider rifle in Jean Shepherd’s “A Christmas Story.”

I don’t know how you managed, but the anniversary cards look lovely.

Wishing you good health and cheer for the New
Year and a Happy T-day! Eileen xx

Hi so good to see you again, and so sorry about your back-that’s rough to get around with.
Enjoyed your post-I think that’s awesome your daughter is into archery. Here in Missouri they teach it the schools now and have competitions all over.
    Lovely cards!
Happy T and Happy New Year’s Eve hugs Kathy

I hope your back is healing better now. I know it will take time to get it completely back in shape.

I’ve never heard of Fireball Whiskey, or even Cinnamon Whiskey, but I love cinnamon, so I might like it. It looked lovely fresh out of the bundt pan.

I had to laugh at Marvin. It’s too bad you can’t show your Christmas cards, because that picture of him on the front was priceless. He looked SO ready to be let go! I loved it so much because that card AND his expression is PRICELESS.

I have NO sentiment stamps, so you are way ahead of me. Those anniversary cards are lovely, too.

Thanks for sharing your tiny cocktail, the cards, your Fireball cake, and the video which I saw on national TV with us for T this almost Tuesday. Please feel better soon. Happy New Year’s eve, dear friend.

Its good to have folk around when help is needed. I hope you are not in to much pain and you are recovering. I smiled at the gifts you had to wrap for chrismas, I think I would have preferred the arrows to the wheel stand we had to wrap.
Happy T day and my very best wishes to you and your family for the coming year.

A wonderful shot, I love this first pic!
And the early bird one, too cute! Marvin is beautiful. And what a cute cocktail.
The cards are really pretty. I am such a lazy person I have stickers that are 3D… on the door.
Weee, that is a scary situation with that bus! I hate(d) driving in such situations (have no car no more), well who does not (bet some men even love it).
Hope you´re fit again soon, my back hurts, too – because I am lazy these days!
To a healthy New Year! Hugs!

Your Christmas tree looks beautiful. I like all of the different wrapping papers / bags for the gifts. Your cat is adorable. The cards you made look lovely. And I was thinking about you when I heard about the latest storm for your area. Ugh. Happy T-Day and Happy New Year!

It looks like you had a joyful Christmas. And since I teach high school, I know plenty of 17 year olds who would sleep in front of the tree. It was good that Mini-me gave up her bed. Sorry to hear your back is still and issue, but your cake looks very yummy to me. And I saw that video. Scary stuff! Glad everyone was ok. Happy new year holiday Halle, happy T day and I hope you have a wonderful 2020.

Looks like a wonderful Christmas, and so good that you were sensible and let people help you doing the lifting and bending…..
The cake looks really yummy. Did the icing go wrong? never mind. What counts is how it tastes.
I hope your back will continue to heal. It will always be a weak spot in your body so please continue to let othrs bend and lift. (Sorry, once a nurse, always a nurse)
I looked with horror at that video. That must have been sooo scary!
    Happy New Year and
    A belated Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
