T Tuesday: garden update edition

Last updated : April 10, 2016

T stands for Tuesday_200This edition of T stands for Tuesday is all about my garden….my edible garden that is.20140701_5614First we have the obligatory beverage. In my case, this morning, it’s still coffee resting along the deck rail. I have three boxes of herbs here and two really sad looking pots behind me in the photo. They are so scraggly and pathetic that I am ready to throw them out. 20140701_5621My raised bed is doing really well this year. I think having some tree limbs above it trimmed has really helps get the needed sunshine.20140701_5618Some of my lettuce is ready for a sandwich or salad. I’m thinking I need to boil some eggs for an egg salad sandwich…oh yum. 20140701_5619This year I decided to plant more than one cucumber plant since in previous years I’ve had such poor production. I also changed the location. They seem to be loving it here. Hopefully I’ll be seeing lots of little cukes from all those blossoms real soon.20140701_5622My “big garden” has tons of green bean plants that are covered in blossoms and lots of tiny beans beginning to form.20140701_5626The tomato plants in this garden aren’t looking so great. These are my large red variety vs the small yellow pear shaped ones in the raised bed. Hopefully they will produce some tomatoes.

In addition, I have 4 plants at my in-laws house…2 of each variety.  Big J is mowing their lawn this summer so I took them up on the offer of using some of their garden space.

Our CSA farm share has been pretty meager so far. The weather here in MN has been less than ideal. So many fields are under water. What we’ve gotten from the farm share has been good quality…just not much in the quantity.

Another busy Tuesday for me…I’ll be around to visit as soon as I can…

What are you doing today?

Sweet garden banners…does it keep the birds out? enjoyed the garden tour and loved the lettuce in the bucket! I keep thinking that raised beds are something I should do but it never happens. we are just not much for gardening at our house, but I do love fresh vegetables! great post…happy Tuesday! ☺

I have a little patio and no yard, so I enjoy seeing your garden spaces. Yet, I still tend to focus on the small elements lol. I think your pail with lettuce plants is cute as can be, and I love the boxes of herbs. Mine are in separate pots, but I like your system. Thx for sharing your garden photos :)

I think your garden plantings look great! Your beans look so much better than ours, and our tomatoes aren’t doing so well either. But the swiss chard and lettuces and herbs are being picked and eaten by us and our neighbors continuously. Hope to be enjoying cukes and peppers soon too. Happy T day!

Your vegie plants all look great to me…
always amazing what grows after such a long winter too.
The news of flooding in MN does sound serious.
Rotating your plants is a good thing I believe…
it will be fun to see when the fruits of your labor start showing up!
    Happy T Day

Your garden looks good! I’ve sort of given up on the veggies this year because the flowers I planted by seed did not even grow this year. I do have one pot of basil that is doing well.

I’m putting the finishing coat on the cabinet doors today before I have to run out to an appointment so I didn’t get a chance to post for T day–just wanted to stop by and say hello!

I decided two years ago to plant only herbs, but I seem to enjoy the tomatoes I’m already getting on the vine this year. It’s a banner year for me, and a sad year for MN. I always worry about the flooding. After all, it does flow downstream. Your garden actually looks quite good for this time of year. Thanks for sharing during T this week.

Our garden is doing well and we have tomatoes growing, YAY!! I just had egg/lettuce sandwiches for the last two weeks, they are so good! Hope everything grows well for you this summer.

Those banners are really jazzy! All looks pretty well considering how wet it’s been. Dagan and Leah joined one of those vegetable share places this summer, too, and pickings have been slim so far. We need a little dry weather for a while, I think. Your garden looks very promising!! :) Happy T-Day!!
