T Tuesday: in progress edition

I feel like I should have a virtual loading bar on my activities. I have many things in progress and I’m excited about all of them!

Journal progress

I gutted a book from the 50s that I knew would never hold up to the abuse that I would put it through. I liked the orange cover and mid-century motif but it was a bit damaged on the back. I decided to cover it with some Tim Holtz tissue and go from there.

I used some transparent pink paint over top of the tissue for a little better color once I had picked out the inner spine fabric and end pages. Pink is a favorite of mine. I’m so not a girlie girl but I do love pink.

I stitched in my signatures….

and now I need to take it back apart…ugh. The book no longer sits nicely. Is it fine? It would work but it would bug me every single time I used it. I should have left more space between the signatures.

Plant babies

My seedlings are doing quite well. I’m just about ready to transplant the tomatoes into larger pots.

The nasturtium seeds I saved last summer are baby plants now! I started a few more plants just last week. So excited for those. I’m planning to try the leaves and flowers in salads this year. I’m also going to save some of the blossoms for tea. I have no idea if I’ll like it but I’ve heard it good.

Maybe I’ll use these fancy little cups that I can’t seem to part with. They are so pretty.

My radishes have  sprouted…unfortunately its been cold and there is snow in the forecast.

They are all tucked into bed now…so punny.

I also had to share my thrift store score. I got all of this paper for under $5. Stacks and stacks of good sized scraps and three paper pads. Crazy! I’m looking forward to making a bunch more cards.

Fan favorite- Marvin

This picture was just too cute not to share. He is laying on his “security bag”. It’s a reusable shopping bag that he immediately claimed. He gets upset when I move it to vacuum. So we have a bag that permanently lives on our living room floor. He’s not spoiled at all. But who could say no to that face.

What are you doing today?

I think your book turned out great! I’ve had nasturtiums but not in decades. What pretty cups! They’ll be perfect for your tea experiment :) Marvin’s is a face you can’t say no to. I can see why :)

    Happy T Tuesday!

Those teacups are so pretty and delicate!
What a great haul at the thrift store. I love visiting but I always seem to come out with something I need just because it was a good deal. I guess if that’s why I buy it, it isn’t a good deal. So sadly, I have been staying away. But your post reminds me of all the treasures I am missing.
You plants look great! Snow, what?? Ugh!! I need sunshine.
Your journal looks great but I know what you mean about having it bug you. It is better to deconstruct now before you start adding things. The colors you have chosen are great. And I love the hand-sewn signatures are such a great touch. Looking forward to seeing more.
    Happy tea day,
    Kate

Marvin has won a few more admirers. me being one of them. That is such a gorgeous picture of him on his bag.
Congratulations on that thrift store find. That will make many beautiful cards.
Your garden is looking great. I hope your radishes survive. But snow usually protects little plants, so you might be OK.
    Happy T-Day,
    Stay healthy,
    Hugs,

I absolutely LOVE all that paper you got for next to nothing. I suggest you save the butterflies for later, but that’s just me. You are definitely going to have fun making cards and maybe adding to your journal, too.

I admire you hand sewing those signatures. I totally understand how little things can magnify over time, so I admire that you are doing rework.

Your garden is going to be amazing this year. I’m sure the plants you put to bed will be safe (grin).

I LOVE those cups. They look so delicate. They are simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing your gardening skills, your paper score, your latest art journal, your beautiful cups, AND MARVIN with us for T this almost Tuesday, dear friend.

Oh, I’m such a fan of Marvin! He looks so handsome and cute, and I would happily leave a bag on the floor for him too if it makes him happy …lol 😉. Loving the journal that you created, the cover and pages look beautiful! The plant babies are fabulous too, I have a feeling that your garden will be looking wonderful again this year. You must keep those cups, they look so elegant – very pretty! Have a wonderful week and sending you Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
