T Tuesday: junk journal and more edition

Last Tuesday had me very introspective with my post. Throwing the words down and wading through them really helped me through what I was feeling. Your comments were also inspiring…so thank you for that!

Mindset

At school, we often talk about growth vs fixed mindset. I think perhaps those lessons are rubbing off on me as well. Setting goals, developing a plan and not giving up when life throws a curveball. Honestly, these are things I have done in the past but I didn’t think critically about them until now.

So last week I talked myself through making a plan to set aside time to create. Guess what?  I did!

I had the bones of this junk journal project set aside…I just needed the time, drive and a few little tidbits to make it happen. Now that it’s done…I love it.  I’m planning to use it for bits and piece from everyday life, quotes, thoughts, etc.  I want to do a flip through at some point. What I really need to do is figure out YouTube and publish videos there and embed them in my posts. I think it would honestly be easier than the way I’ve been doing it.

In addition to making this junk journal, we had a flurry of activity on Saturday. Mini-me and I went to a local church rummage sale for bag day as we try to do each year. We spent a total of $16.50. Mini-me filled one reusable grocery bag mostly with clothes…$4. I filled one with clothes, craft supplies, and potential Halloween costumes…$4. The third bag was filled with books…$4.  In addition, we bought one super old arithmetic primer…$1 and a print for Mini-me’s room….$3.50

I only took photos of my lovely new crafty items. Look at that amazing box of trims!!

Saturday evening Mr. G’s brother messaged him saying that he was playing a gig in our neck of the woods. We quickly grabbed our things and headed out to hear him play the mandolin with the Roe Family Singers. It was a lovely but slightly chilly evening sitting on hay bales enjoying some bluegrass music.

Their aging corgi, Daisey, even made the trip. A good time was had by all.

We invited them back to our house after where I whipped together a few snacks and drinks since we haven’t seen them in a while. Sometimes the unplanned things are the most fun things!!

What are you doing today?

I enjoyed your post-I am retired now but even I try to make time for my crafts-it just makes me feel good-loving your journal
Love your flea market finds-those are the best.
The blue grass music sounds like a very fun time and I agree spur of the moment is always fun times.

Good idea to set a time aside for crafting. I always enjoy my art group because even if the week is busy, I have my 3 hours there every week and time to play. You had a fun, musical outing, too. Happy T Day, Valerie

Hooray for you, Halle! Your junk journal looks great. You bind yours before you fill them? I followed a tutorial at the Graphics Fairy, which is just the reverse. This is my first junk journal, but I like working on the unbound pages. Yours looks very professional. That’s a great haul you got at the rummage sale. The old letters and pressed ferns and fall leaves caught my eye.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

I would love to make a junk journal, just don’t know how to begin. I have watched several you tubes, but still not confident enough to begin. Yours is lovely, and you will have so much fun filling it with bits. Great finds, the lace and trims. I firmly believe in unplanned last minute times, but I am married to a planner, and I mean down to the minute! So, no rarely do we do spur of the moment activities.
    Happy T Day!

You SCORED at that sale. Pretty awesome. I remember paying $4.00 for an art book, and I can only imagine what they would have charged for the primer. I’m in awe of the lace and trims. Most are white or off white, which BEG to be dyed, if needed, too.

Your junk journal looks great. I can’t wait to see more.

I am SO sorry it has taken me so long to visit. I’m having a terrible time with my internet. I called ATT three times today and they told me it might be my modem. However, after I got frustrated enough to threaten to go elsewhere, I was suddenly back online.

Thanks for sharing your junk journal, your sale finds, and your family outing with your BIL supplying the music with us for T this Tuesday.

That journal came out fantastic. I think kids need to learn those skills-making a plan, etc. I think a lot of adults could too. (smile) And nice finds. I really love the corgi. What a cutie. Hope it was a great T day. Hugs-Erika
