T Tuesday: outdoor goodness edition

The summer is flying by. I’m so thankful to be enjoying some of it outdoors. My garden is thriving with the abundant rain, heat and humidity.

This is the first year I’ve had any luck with cucumbers…they are nearly taking over the garden!!  So far I’ve picked only two. I’m hoping there will be many more for all the space the vines are taking up. My green beans are producing like crazy. Unfortunately I bought the wrong seeds. These are the ones with a bit of a texture on the bean..sort of like a peach. Blech….we like to eat our green beans raw from the garden. The texture just doesn’t work for me. I’ll be making these into canned spicy beans.

My yellow pear tomatoes are big but not producing much. Makes me kind of sad. Hopefully they are just a little slow this year.

We have been getting our weekly CSA box in addition to our garden. We are really enjoying this again this year. So many fresh veggies. I’ve even done a bit of juicing. Trying to use the veggies in a different way.

This was beet, carrot, apple and ginger. It was SO GOOD!!!!!!

And pretty too! Speaking of pretty…did you spy my freshly stained deck rails? They were so bad…basically down to raw wood. It was a couple labor intensive mornings. I’d have to stop each day when the temp climbed over 90°F.

The great outdoors has so much to offer us. I’ve heard it said and couldn’t agree more that Minnesotans are all about spending as much time outside as possible. We endure extremes in temperature and several different kinds of weather in one day isn’t uncommon.

As you can see by my crazy tan lines…I spend a bit of time walking in my sandals. LOL  Marvin even gets to occasionally visits to the great outdoors under close supervision. And yes, he really is that big…no trick of the lens. FYI—I wear a size US 9 (40 EU).

Tuesday holds a visit to my friend in her “new” house. I’m super excited to see it and her!!

What are you doing today?

Sounds like you are having a successful garden year. It is funny your tomatoes are slow though. Your drink looks and sounds fabulous, I would like to taste it. Cool tan design on your feet! :). I can’t wear sandals; I have to wear shoes with support, like tennis shoes! It is hot here, so not doing much! Happy TDay!

Your garden is thriving! I love eating beans raw as well. I can understand not liking the fuzzy texture on top. Canned spicy beans sound so yummy and I hope you share the finished product with us. Haha, love your tan lines! You are going to have to buy all your shoes with those crossed straps.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

I missed you last week. I can’t believe how good your gardens look. Everything I bought this year died. I hope your tomatoes are just late bloomers.

LOVED the view of Marvin and your feet. I laughed since mine are size 6. I thought the stripes on your feet were funny, though.

Your drink looks good and colorful, too. It even sounds good. Thanks for sharing it with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

Your garden looks so healthy, it must be good when you can pick your own vegetables.
The drink you made looks and sounds delicious.

Woman i wear a size 10 1/2 US … and i passed on those big feet to my daughter..lol We say we have firm foundations…lol

Marvin is such a pretty cat! Jinx .. my cat.. is black and its so hard to get a good photo of him.. unless i catch him in the sun.. then his undercoat has a reddish tinge and its good if his eyes are open then at least you can see his eyes in all that blackness..

i wonder what kind of fertilizer you used Halle… Maybe something with too much nitrogen?? That would be the first number on the box.. It promotes green and leaves.. but maybe not the veggies you want.. Happy happy T day!! Hugs! deb

You won’t have to buy veggies at all at this rate! I’m impressed with your produce production :) tho I’ll pass on the veggie juice. Your deck rails took their re-fresh well. Very nice. That’s a big cat! I like his handsome markings :) Happy T Tuesday

Hi sorry I am a bit late in the day to visit all the T friends-I needed to go food shopping and then friends stopped by.
Your garden looks lush. I have harvested a few cucumbers and a very few smaller tomatoes but that’s it so far we had weeks on end of just too hot-now cooler and coming in so perhaps later on
Your spicy bean recipe sounds and looks good as does your veggie drink-yum
    Happy T Day Hugs Kathy

What a pretty drink, Halle. I think I’d raather paint it than drink it ;-)

I wear a size 9 shoe too. So I looked down at my own feet and am guessing that Marvin is about 20 inches long – wow!

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

We have a glut of cucumbers too at the moment and I’m running out of ways to eat them. Luckily hubby will munch one with every meal.
Your drink looks really yummy and the color is amazing.
Wow, your cat is huge! I did smile at your tan marks, lol. I’m in sandals all summer but I don’t spend any time in the sun so no tan marks. (No tan full stop)
