T Tuesday: week in review edition

Last updated : April 10, 2016

We had a busy week leading up to the July 4th holiday weekend. I barely touched my computer for days… I totally missed 2nd on the Second that Elizabeth our T stands for Tuesday also hosts. I didn’t even realize I missed it until the 5th. How’s that for being out of touch!

Lets start back on Tuesday of last week…

hail damage

after writing my T post, we headed off to my inlaws to check out the damage to the garden and their house. The garden was a wreck. Leaves and plants ripped to shreds and beaten into the mud. I cleaned up as much as I could and will just hope for the best. At least we have a thriving garden here at home as well.

Wednesday and Thursday were a blur… I can’t even remember what we did.

Friday evening was spent at the carnival in town. The kids had a great time. I had a great time too. I wasn’t looking forward to going this year but I’m glad I did.

carnival

I don’t know if you can tell from the photo (upper left side) but we’ve been effected by smoke from the Canadian wild fires here. The sun at times is just a red glow in the sky. Yesterday after our heavy rains ended it was so hazy and the air smelled really bad. I found out later that we were under an air quality warning. Our air quality was worse than Beijing, China yesterday.  Thankfully today it has cleared out.

EDIT: I can still smell the smoke but at least the sky is clear.

On to Independence day…chalk collage

Before the parade I walked over to the hockey rink at the Elementary school to check out the chalk drawing contest entries now that they were complete. Amazing work! The girl who drew Uncle Sam was 14 yrs old! Wow!

And now parade time….

T6 Texans flyover

The annual flyover by a T6 Texan squadron announces the start of the parade.  Then we have another good 30 minutes before the parade reaches our seats. That’s ok…we sit with a group of about 55 people in a friends back yard along the parade route. Can’t beat that!

It was a hot and steamy day…my drink of choice…

corona

Ok I didn’t get that fancy that day…I had to take one for the team yesterday for dramatic effect on the post. *grin*

After the sticky day it was time for a dip in the neighbors pool.

And then some fireworks…

We are back to a normal schedule I think. Errands, hopefully knitting and visiting my T friends are on the list for today.

What are you doing?

Glad you had a nice fourth of July celebration.
It sure came and went quickly as most of this year has seemed to do too.
I have been unplugged as well getting ready for our son’s visit from CO.
We are so excited picking him up at the airport this afternoon.
Hope the fires get taken care of and scary how far reaching its effects are!
Happy July and Happy T Day Halle.

First, I don’t see any thing wrong with your sidebar. I hope it gets straightened out on your computer because it looks fine on mine.

Now on to your week. I remember how a hail storm beat my veggies to the ground. They weren’t as far along as yours, but they were annihilated. Thankfully they came back. Yours (your in-laws) should, too.

It’s ironic I read or heard nothing about the fires in Canada EXCEPT on my friends’ blogs. I had no idea they were wildfires because you are the first to mention that. Guess it makes sense, though, because if some city were burned to the ground, I’m sure we would have heard about it on local TV.

Your fourth sound a lot more relaxing than mine. I was busy keeping two cats safe, grilling, and trying to entertain. I’ve posted, but most were scheduled. I didn’t even see my SOC colors till early this morning, after I read Linda’s blog. I hope things get back to normal for you soon.

I’m sort of expecting Kathy to drop by this week, and I’m in the middle of purging my craft room. I need to work early because it gets so hot by mid day.

Thanks for sharing your crazy busy week and lovely DRINK with us for T this Tuesday.

Your 4th sounds like it was fun. The chalk art is amazing, and the Ferris wheel photo is cute. Too bad about the hazy sky, but what can you do, right? I read a news article that says Canada is having ten times as many wildfires as usual this summer. Yikes!

And in answer to your question, YES, I love the new Excelsior library! The big windows make it feel so sunny and open. Thanks for prompting me to visit it.

Your 4th of July activities sound like a lot of fun. I enjoyed the peek at the sidewalk drawings. What are you knitting It is too hot where I am to knit right now. I’m on a mission to get some holiday presents done and may be falling behind schedule.

Wow! You had a busy week! They had the air quality warnings up here, too. Even though we can see the blue sky and clouds again I guess remnants of the smoke is still there. Have a good week. Happy T-Day!

what a fun celebration! A bit frightening to think of such bad air quality-esp. for those with compromised breathing issues. Glad it is much better. Fantastic chalk drawings, and what a beautiful pool-nice to have such sharing neighbors:)

I’m glad the air is clearing, but how scary to think that it can get so bad, so close to home.
I hope everyone affected by the fires is safe.
Your July 4th celebrations sound like lots of fun and how lovely to be able to cool off afterwards in a fine pool. I love fireworks. Wee Man not so much if they’re close-by.
    Happy T Day :D

Looks as though you had a great 4th of July. It was HOT and sticky here also and a pool was well used too.

The chalk drawings are amazing. We have something like this once a year, in Bakersfield, in a large parking lot. It really takes some talent to do them so large and with chalk!!

Thanks for the visit and for the comment…….grandkids are worth waiting for.
