T Tuesday: worst quilt ever edition

You know what that means…I’m linking up with Elizabeth and the gang to share a bit about my week…or weeks as the case may be.

Worst quilt ever

I’ll just rip the bandage off quickly…this is the worst quilt I have ever made. At first glance it’s not terrible but if you keep looking you begin to see all the issues. And boy are there a lot of them.

The one thing that I do love is the no holds barred scrappiness of the quilt. No negative space or even plain solid to let your eye rest.  That was my intention. It’s the back that set the multitude of issues into play.

Oh it’s like a trainwreck…so many things went wrong. But I just wanted to finish this dang thing. I was like Dory from Finding Nemo…

Except it was just keep sewing, just keep sewing…

It’s not beautiful but it will still keep me warm and snuggly on the couch so it does have a bit of a redeeming quality.

I had to share the clever display case at school welcoming the kids back. So fun. There are signs all over the school letting the kids know how happy we are to have them back. I think they are really happy too! Today we welcomed back the second group of students as we are still in a hybrid learning model. So fun to see all those kids!  We did not get to go snowshoeing yet but I am still hopeful

My COVID vaccine that was scheduled for Saturday was delayed until next weekend due to weather affecting the supply chain. The weather has been absolutely insane everywhere it seems.

I leave you with my Bulldog mom mug. My bulldog is not coming home for Spring break. They only have two days off instead of a week. I’m not sure I’ll see him until he moves back home. *sniff*

I just realized I’m going to need a new mug next fall… That one will make me a cougar mom. Hmmm…that sounds a little funny. LOL

What are you doing today?

I think it is a great quilt, and pretty, too.
    Happy T Day!

I love your quilt – I don’t know much about quilting but I do love the bright colours! We all have those ‘keep swimming ‘ type of project I think! Pleased you are getting your vaccine – is it for teaching staff? We don’t seem to be prioritising teachers here so I worry about my son! Love the welcome back sign! Belated Happy T Day! Hugs, Chrisx

I’m not a quilter so I don’t see what’s wrong with that quilt. I think it’s beautiful, and you will have so much pleasure out of it when you lie under it on cool evenings. And you have recycled all those bits of fabric that you had lying about (rather than buy the material), so every bit of fabric will probably have a particular memory for you.
The school welcome back sign is adorable. I’m sure the kids will be just as happy to be back as you are.
As for the Bull thing. I don’t get that. (not being american)Are we talking football here? And why would you become a cougar next year? (And it’s not nice for a lady to be called a cougar, at least not in Europe)
    But… it’s a lovely mug!
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

I don’t quilt and I didn’t see anything wrong with your colorful quilt. I bet it’s just right for wrapping up on the sofa. The mural for the kids is clever and I had to laugh at Cougar Mom. You go, girl! Happy T Day

I’m not a quilter so I don’t really see why you hate that quilt, but I take your word for it. I do see that it’s rather jarring in terms of color, but that’s a taste question.

I like your quilt, and believe me, it would be far better than any traditional quilt I could make. I love all the colors and fabric types you used too. Fun to see your mug and college stickers. Hope you get out snowshoeing this upcoming week and get your vaccine too. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

I had to laugh at your quilt. There is NO way I could have done as well as you, but I see the problem. I had a similar problem when I made an art quilt for Erika one year. It all fell apart when the back went on. However, I still like it and it will make a great quilt for you and Marvin to snuggle under.

So glad you will be getting your shots soon. I know that will make you feel better. Cute sign, too. I bet the kids are happy.

Yes, I agree that calling yourself a cougar mom may not be the best thing in the world, but it’s still funny. Love the bulldog mug, though.

Thanks for sharing your quilt, the school sign, and the adorable mug with us for T this Tuesday.

I’d say you’re doing well if that’s your worst effort lol It looks pretty good to me :)

The weather has set back the vaccine schedule here, too. It’s been a weird February. Happy T Tuesday!

Your quilt is fine looking to me. I admire anyone that can quilt! I’m sure everyone will be happy to be back in school, and it’ll help you feel better as well since you are missing your son. Happy T day!

Personally, I love your quilt. We all see the flaws in our own work but as long as you are using and enjoying it, that is all that counts. And I love that you were able to use all your scraps up. That is a feat in itself, let alone sewing that whole thing together. Well done!
That is quite a clever bulletin board.
Hope that you get to see you son soon. That must have been disappointing to have his break cut short.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

Such a fabulous post! So great to see your finished quilt, it looks beautiful. The signage at school is such fun, I bet the kids will be pleased to be back too. Loving the mug and decals, your mention of a cougar mug made me smile too …lol 😉. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

I’ve never made a quilt but I think it looks great, I think we are all more critical of our own work sometimes but think of all the scraps you’ve used and how cosy you will be snuggled up on the sofa.
Love the poster at your school, our GS in England is going back on March 8th, he’s almost five and has missed seeing his friends, we’ve missed seeing him too.
    Have a lovely week

Gurl you are way too hard on yourself. This is beautiful!!! If you don’t like it just send it to me. Hee hee hee. We have no vaccines where I live. So you are lucky to get even the first one. Have a great day.
