    Summer challenge #1

I’ve been anxiously awaiting today since last August when I discovered the scavenger hunt that Rinda of Gallo Organico puts on each summer. 2014summerhuntI discovered it at the very end of summer and figured it would be more fun to play along from the beginning.

Here is the super awesome list that I can’t wait to get started on.

    1. A sign welcoming people to your home town (or a nearby town)
    2. A garden gnome
    3. Birds on a wire
    4. A group of tourists
    5. A rack of post cards
    6. An urban street scene
    7. A rural landscape
    8. A tattoo on a person
    9. A bakery
    10. A photo bomb (someone found lurking in the background of photo; the lurker may have intended to disrupt the picture or may be doing it unintentionally, but the background lurker is a surprise to the photographer)
    11. A horn
    12. A mascot
    13. A sunrise
    14. A parade
    15. A juggler
    16. A sign in a language other than English
    17. A lamp post
    18. A water fall
    19. A public garden
    20. A bus (not a car, truck, lorry, camper or RV) with a picture painted on its sides.
    21. A photograph of you with something representing the season (recognizing that the season will be Winter for our friends in the southern hemisphere). Note: you may not use a substitute for this item.
If you find something on the list too difficult, you may substitute one of the following items for anything on the list, except for Item #21:
Alternative A: A kite, hot air balloon or blimp
    Alternative B: A bird house

I’m not setting a schedule for my posts. When the mood strikes me,  I’ll post a few along with a brief description of how it photo fits the list item. In addition I’ll be posting the list each time with the items “found” with a strike through the item.

I intend to use all new photos…nothing from my collection. I can think of so many of these that I already have…but what fun would that be!?! None.  And also not in the spirit of this challenge.

    T Tuesday: candle mug edition

Thanks for stopping by today for T stands for Tuesday hosted by Elizabeth, Dr. E (yep she’s got a Ph.D), Queen of Free, caretaker of Bleubeard, teacher extraordinaire and all around nice gal. How’s that for an intro!?!

I’m getting a bit stir crazy again…I’ve had at least one sick kid since last Wednesday. I’ve been disinfecting everything they touch or at least trying. I’m scheduled to work later this week and it would be just like it for me to get deathly ill for that day.

Once again I’m not showing my mug of tea…yes, I’m drinking a cup of Twinings Lady Grey but its in my ugliest mug. I just can’t post that…yuck. I might even throw this one out today…stained and ugly.

But I will show you the mug candle I made last week.

    candle tea

I picked up the mug at Goodwill a while back. I recycled my candle bits and made a new candle with a touch of fragrance oil and colorant.  The mug seems very Scandinavian in design although I think it’s just a cheapy from HomeGoods.

watching and waitingMiss Gracie keeps thinking now that there is no ice on the inside of the windows that she should be able to go outside. She sits…waiting and watching…ever hopeful I’ll take her out. Nope…not going to happen honey. She’d get lost in the deep snow…another 4-8 inches are coming on Thursday…oh joy.

I thought this article about Lake Superior being 95% frozen over this year and for the first time since 2009 people can walk over the ice to the Apostle Islands was really interesting and the photos are fantastic.

Photo credit to Paul Johnson…he’s amazing!!!!!

Maybe this post should have been named T Tuesday: random thoughts edition, since I was really all over the place today. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. 🙂

    What are you doing today??

    A beautiful day

beautiful dayWe’ve had such gorgeous weather lately. It inspired me to create this journal page day.

Blue sky and puffy white clouds.

A field of flowers…beautiful day full page

I think I was also inspired by a recent trip to the MN Landscape Arboretum.  So many beautiful flowers. I took well over 100 photos in the 1.5 we were there.

I’ll share more of that day in a later post.

This was the last photo I took that day as we were walking back out to our vehicle. That’s it straight from the camera…no edits…no fussing with color balance etc….with the exception of my watermark, of course.

Here’s the same photo after playing around in Photoshop. It has a completely different mood.

I could play in the digital world all day but there are things in the real world that need my attention today.
