    Bah Humbug

I’m not exactly sure why but I’m having a really hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year. It could be that our Minnesota winter has yet to arrive. We’ve had temps well above freezing and even a thunder storm on Monday. Super strange.

Last night and this morning we finally had a little bit of snow…very little. When I stepped outside this morning my first thought was “great…now it’s too cold to snow.”  If your not from around this neck of the woods that last statement doesn’t make a bit of sense. Too cold to snow!! Why yes, yes that is a thing that happens. I was right…the flurries didn’t start until it actually warmed up a little bit and didn’t last anytime at all. I’m pretty sure we will not be having a white Christmas.

Since I’m feeling all Bah Humbug I thought it was a good time to share some postcards I made ages ago for a swap. I wish I had taken better or more high quality scans of these so long ago before passing them along.

These were really fun. Perhaps this will get my snarky muse into gear as long as my regular one is either pouting under the Christmas tree or hibernating.

    **** Merry Christmas ****

in case I don’t get another post up before then!!

A second look: Travels postcard book

SecondlookThis month for Second on the 2nd I decided to share a second look at a postcard book…well, actually two books…I created to hold my postcard collection.

The original post was dated July 13, 2011.  Come along for a trip down memory lane with me.

This spring I got back into swapping postcards on Swapbot.  Of course, they have other things to swap but I’ve had the most fun with postcards.

Who doesn’t love getting mail, right?!

What do you do with a big stack of postcards to make them a little more fun…

    You make a book!

This book was a great size and had the perfect title.

I made 3 tiny signatures and attached them to the cover with a pamphlet stitch. I used a dry adhesive tape runner on the front side of each of the postcards to “tip” them into the book.

These postcards came from all over the globe…

    Places such as South Africa

    New Zealand

    Slovakia

And as close as the next state.

Years ago, before starting this blog, I made my first book to hold my postcards.

    Kind of a cheesy title….

But I was happy with the the way a bound the signatures as well as attached envelopes to hold some extras.  Good thing too…the pockets are filled to the brim now.

    40 Tea Tuesday

My BFF turns the big 4-0 tomorrow. Since she’s across the country from me I decided to SPAM her snail mail box this past week. I’m sure she’ll get me back next month when I going the club but its all in good fun. Neither of us are freaking out about 40…it just doesn’t seem possible. I feel like I’m 20 something.
I sliced open the side of a water bottle and filled it  with a packet of flowers seeds, a knit dishcloth, crochet scrubbie, a wine cork, confetti, a few fortunes and a note.

    The note explained the contents…
    In summary it said:
If I were there I’d give her flowers, instead she’ll have to plant her own.
If I were there I’d help her clean her house, instead she’ll have to have her family to do it for her.
If I were there I’d share a bottle of wine but sorry I drank it.

I also made a series of postcards with little snarky remarks all in jest of course.
I realize this post doesn’t really have anything to do with tea… other than the fact that Sandy and I often have a cup of tea and a chat over the phone.
