I wanted something special this week since this will be my first Thanksgiving without my dad, so I borrowed this set from my mom.

This is one of my favorites from Dad’s collection.  His collection focused on sets with scenery on them.

He was always on the look out for a nice scene but of course, would surprise Mom with a delicate floral set when he found one.

I love the thistles framing the scene, the scalloped edge and the handle. Drinking tea from this cup makes me sit up a little straighter and cross my legs at my ankles. Granted, this is not my usual style..I’m more of a curl up in a chair and sip from a steamy mug kind of gal but it’s good to be “ladylike” every once in a while.

My parents have a very large tea cup and saucer collection. The funny thing was that they both had collections BEFORE they even met.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of their collection…

Happy Tuesday! We’ve got light snow flurries coming down at present. But nothing like the 10+ inches of snow we got on Saturday!! That was tree branch breaking snow…this is the pretty stuff.

Today I’m having my tea with another special Norwegian treat…LEFSE. So, of course, I had to drink it out of a Scandinavian tea set.

I made the lefse on Sunday afternoon. Each time I make it I get a little better at it. I don’t use a recipe because I hate to measure. Growing up I was always around when mom made her lefse. She would talk about how it should feel, look and taste. She never measured either.

Good Morning!
Well, the kids are off to school…my morning coffee is gone and now I need to clean the house!

Time for some comfort tea in one of my many, many Fiestaware mugs.
This particular one is a retired color called Juniper. When I dropped the matching dinner plate on the floor, I actually cried as I picked up the pieces. It was the first and only piece I’ve broken.  I’m not usually emotional like that but it was just the cherry on top of a really crumby day if memory serves.

Again…I am off track… We were talking about tea!!

I LOVE this Oh my! Chai.
It’s my special treat. I hoard it and only drink it when I need some comfort or want to super indulge.

Point of information: I have no affiliation with Tastefully Simple at all…just love this product. :) Thought you’d want to know.

For months now I’ve been enjoying the Tea Tuesday posts on some of my favorite blogs. I wanted to join in myself so I asked Kimmie, our hostess, if she’d mind if I joined the tea party. Being the gracious host that she is…she agreed.

I decided since this was my very first Tea Tuesday that I should celebrate and bring out the good china. In fact, I have NEVER drank out of on of these cups until today.

As a kid, this set of dishes was brought out for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter…that’s it. It was my Grandma’s and last year was handed down to me from my folks. I’ve actually only ever eaten off the dinner plates…and that wasn’t until I was a teenager that that privilege was allowed.
I must have been quite the clumsy child. :)

With my tea, I’m enjoying a special Norwegian treat called Krumkake. My mom bought it at a church Lutefisk supper over the weekend. I usually make some around Christmas so this is a real treat to have some now.
