T Tuesday: New York and more edition

The past week has been a whirlwind. Even more so than I had imagined. After my last post I was busy getting ready for the garage sale.

It turned out really well even though Thursday was very cold with a heavy mist most of the day. The neighbor and I got rid of the vast majority of the things that “had to go”.  We were making deals and giving high fives when the people left.

Wednesday Mr. G brought home a lovely bouquet of flowers for our anniversary.

Really poor photo of them but what can I say…it was raining.

Friday I had to leave the garage sale for most of the day to get mom set up with hospice care. It was time for a little more help than I can provide without moving her to a care facility.

Saturday morning….really early….Mr. G and I took J to the airport to begin his New York adventure.

They did so many fun things along with preparing for their concert at Carnegie Hall.

They saw The Waitress on Broadway and look who came out to give some autographs…

the star of the show herself…Sara Bareilles.

(FYI…the photos without my watermark were taken by various members of school staff chaperones and posted on various social media)

Of course, the purpose of the trip was a performance at Carnegie Hall.

What a fun group!

They were part of a larger group…this was them on stage during the sound check. I saw a short video clip of them during the sound check and they sound amazing!

For their hard work they were rewarded with an exclusive party at Planet Hollywood in Times Square.

The party was rockin’ until 1am. Those are going to be some tired kids we pick up from the airport tonight!! And guess what…regular school and exams tomorrow. Sleep fast kids!

Since I’m pretty much “on-call” with mom now, I have to learn to be more flexible with my plans. I seriously need to get to the grocery store today though. That must happen or we’ll have nothing fresh to eat.

What are you doing today?

Believe it or not, I enlarged the photo of the kids and recognized J right off the bat. Sorry everyone who reads this, I promise I won’t tell which one HE is. That’s the only hint you get!

You must have been cleaning your cupboards, because I can’t imagine you selling those Fiesta Ware mugs.

Lovely anniversary flowers, and so thoughtful of Mr. G, too.

Sooooooooo sorry to read about your mother. All I can say is, enjoy her while you still can.

Thanks for sharing your week and J’s trip to NYC with us for T this Tuesday.

Hope all goes well with your Mum, it must be comforting to know that she is getting the help she needs from the hospice – thinking of you both! It sounds like your garage sale went really well, the colourful mugs looked lovely and it’s great that they have gone to a new home :-) . Your anniversary flowers are beautiful, that’s so romantic of Mr.G! I enjoyed seeing the photos of the New York trip too, it looks like everyone had so much fun. Wishing you a Happy T Day! J :-)

I wish you all the best with mum. I hope the hospice care will take a little weight off your shoulders. (I’m not aware of how hospice care works in your country, but I assume it is pretty much similar to that in the UK. I was a hospice nurse in England before I retired).
How sweet of your hubby to buy you flowers on your anniversary. Not many men do that nowadays.
I enjoyed seeing the photos of Junior’s choir outing. How exciting! I bet they were soooo tired!
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

Having your son perform at Carnegie Hall – wow! – at the same time your mom is moving to hospice must be a difficult balancing act. What a wonderful experience for J to cherish. And how thoughtful of your hubby to bring you flowers. It’s all about memories sometimes, isn’t it?

Happy T-day and happy anniversary, Halle. Hugs, Eileen

Oh, Fiestaware mugs! Love them. And your anniversary flowers are beautiful. Looks like the young people had a fabulous trip. Wow, Carnegie Hall. Hard sometimes to admit we need help with care for our elders. in the long run, the best thing for you. You can focus more on spending time with her as a daughter instead of a caregiver. Remember to make a little time for yourself. Happy T Day!

The kids looks like they had a fantastic NY trip. What a cool and very memorable adventure for them. And wow- things with your mom have moved too fast, haven’t they. I remember just awhile back you were taking her in to the doctors. Sorry to hear all that. Its got to be hard for you and on you. I went through that with my dad and I remember the difficulty very well. But happy belated anniversary and love the flowers-rain or not. Hugs-Erika
