T Tuesday: great outdoors edition

Last updated : July 2, 2019

This weeks T stands for Tuesday is dedicated to the great outdoors. I wish I could take you on a current up to the moment tour but…its raining…again. You’ll have to settle for some photos that have been taken over the past week or so.

Shall we start with the pest that is digging up my garden?

Cute isn’t she…pain in my @$$ is what she is. Her and her now babies are digging up plants everywhere!!!! Did you notice she seems to be red and grey…I looked it up and there seems to be some crossing of the species. These squirrels are closer to grey squirrel size but with a red squirrel temperament. “Fantastic” she says dripping with sarcasm.

We’ve also had a bunch of deer around eating my tiger lilies…I can’t blame this little fawn…mama left him rest in the tall grass by the fence.

She’s looking at me like I’m the paparazzi….

Here’s some adorable and equally destructive critters in the patch of clover my neighbor has in their yard.

This robin and the cedar wax wings are busy eating the service berries from our tree like they do every year…the only problem is the berries seem to go right through them if you catch my drift.

Do you notice the netting over my patio tomato plant? Squirrel deterrent. My in-laws used to have a huge strawberry patch…this was the leftover netting. Thank goodness!!

I also have it on my deck boxes and the raised bed. Marvin is out on a supervised visit of the great outdoors on one of our non-raining moments.

He’s such a handsome guy. I love how he poses for me.

He enjoys sniffing the air, watching bugs and birds and generally lounging around.

How do you like my new signs….

My MIL bought them for me. There are a few more but I need to repaint to reflect what I actually have planted.

My garden is finally looking pretty good. I’m excited to see how the yellow pear tomatoes do in this garden vs the raised bed by the deck.

Yesterday I put up a few flags…immediately after placing this one atop the fence post on the garden this dragonfly landed. Must have been an excellent hunting position since he would not move even when I adjusted the flag.

Marvin doesn’t love the heat…even though we’ve brushed and brushed him…he still has quite the coat. We know he’s warm when he does this… His other position is belly up on the floor. Poor baby…he’s a winter cat.

Are you still with me…I know its a long post…

For my art/beverage tie in we have this journal page. I kept meaning to post it but it never happened…as you can see by the date it’s a couple weeks old.

I love how the book page shows through the napkin so much!!! The page really didn’t need a whole lot more in my opinion. A little recycled sari fabric and found text…done.

Tuesday has lots of errands in store getting ready for the Independence Day holiday.

What are you doing today?

oh what wonderful photos!! My Mom just the other day told me about a red and grey mixed squirrel she had in her yard for the first time. I’ve never seen one. And oh I do get it about those squirrels being cute- but such PITTAS! Your Marvin is hysterical sprawled over the arm of the couch:):) Lovely journal page! Happy T day!

The layers and texture on your art journal page are yummy!

And some beautiful wildlife in your backyard. I know what you mean about those backyard pests. I can’t plant anymore vegetables because they eat them all. So annoying!
    Happy Tea Day,

I had to laugh all the way through this post. The squirrels are pests here, too, but mine are all brown and sassy. I’m starting to get blackberries and the birds are eating them faster than I can pick them. They also leave their telltale messes everywhere, too. Thankfully, I have no deer. I live in too populated an area for that.

Poor Marvin. Both the boys are the same. I swear, I brush out 5 lbs of hair every day and those cats still shed like there is no tomorrow. Squiggles still prefers sleeping in the sun, though. And if I have the auxiliary AC on in the office, he hides in a paper sack near where I am working. I think he’s a summer cat, while Bleubeard is definitely a winter cat. And with the 4th coming up, Bleubeard’s also a scardy cat.

I love your journal page. That napkin works perfectly with the layers of background and sari ribbon. I love it a LOT. Thanks for sharing it with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

BTW, I’m jealous. My date stamp ended in 2018, so I have to write 2019 with the stamp if I choose to use it.

What a great post. You had me laughing during some parts. Great photos and garden. Your cat is very handsome! I wondered about the heavy coat of fur, with this heat, then saw him on the couch arm, and knew he’s not liking it. Some of us in CT refer to deer as rats with antlers: they eat almost all of the flowers and vegetables, if they can get at them. I’m currently battling with several squirrels in my yard, but they are winning: they keep getting into my bird feeder and eating all of the seed. When I try to chase them off, they brazenly remain about 2 feet away from me, staring at me.

I enjoyed your wildlife post immensely. Written with so much humor. I too had to laugh out loud at some bits. Yes, we all have experienced these cute pests in our gardens.
Your tomatoes are indeed doing well. It must be all that rain.
Poor Marvin. I feel for him with his long hair. At least he lets you brush him. Our cat never used to let us do that.
    Happy T Day,

Hope the squirrels desist from uprooting your plants, they are such nuisance, I remember the bunting last year that they took last year – very naughty! The little fawn looks super cute. Marvin is so handsome and I’m still smiling at the photo of him flat out on the sofa arm, my he didn’t look comfy so I hope it cooled him down ?. Gorgeous artwork and the book page showing through the napkin looks so effective and beautiful. I’ll have to give this a try, thanks for the inspiration! Wishing you a Happy T Day! Jo x

I love your nature photos :) The squirrels and chipmunks are awful about digging up plants, and I had to put wire over the seeds I tried to start. The animals are fun to watch, but still…

Your art reminds me I haven’t had coffee yet to day, and here it is suppertime! Happy T Tuesday :)

Love your photos and I feel for Marvin, what a way to try to get cool, I might try that, LOL
Our son gets deer in his garden , we planted over a hundred succulents as it’s too steep in parts to do anything with and they ate every one, also the lemon tree! They are so cute though!
    Happy T Day plus one

I have enjoyed your super post very much Halle!! you have got cute friends. This squirrel seems to like to live in your garden, like the baby deer and his mother. Your tiger lilies may be delicious! Of course, it bothers us a lot that they destroy our gardens and our plants, but they are animals, and they do not understand our customs. But the most beautiful of all is Marvin! what a special cat, I love it. Our last cat lived 12 years, and she was adorable!
Your Art journal page is Amazing Halle, really wonderful, and I love the book page with the napkin, Gorgeous !!
    Very Happy belated T-day !!
    Have fun !!
I wish you a very nice Thursday,
    Big hugs, Caty

Oh Halle, I sympathize with your squirrel problems. We’ve had to repair our roof twice and our cars three times! I get the sarcasm. “But they’re so cute!” What they say, “You can’t fight Mother Nature” is so true! We also have carpenter ants in our patio beams – sigh.

I love your new signs – “I have no idea” is the best! Love your napkin art page too.

You got a terrific photo of the dragonfly perched to defend our country. Happy Independence Day and Happy T-day! Eileen xx
