T Tuesday: Japan edition

Tuesday again already….T stands for Tuesday with Elizabeth sneaks up so fast. Especially when life has gotten so busy as of late. That’s ok…I’m not complaining. It’s just an adjustment for me.20140318_4520Twice now I’ve mentioned gifts brought back from Japan. I’m finally getting around to posting them…geesh.

Little J heard that there were different flavors of Kit-Kat candy bars in Japan and asked her Uncle if he’d bring some back.20140302_4361These were strawberry flavored. She loved them…I thought they were ok…but I’d rather have chocolate.  She also got this package of sweet puffed rice…we still aren’t sure if its for eating or if it’s just to be left out as an offering of sorts for a custom that is to bless couples with a new relationship…or something of that sort. I’m really not too clear and my future sister-in-law is working so I can’t ask her. (They got engaged while in Japan)

20140315_4517Her uncle also had this custom drawing made for her…so cute.

20140315_4505Continuing on the food… Mr. G’s new kaiju is holding a snack mix we are afraid to try even though the package tells us to “please enjoy tasting”. (click on the photo to enlarge…there are tiny whole dried fish in there)

Big J got a t-shirt with a map of the Tokyo subway system and a funny headband….neither of which I can seem to find this morning.20140315_4511I got this super cute washi tape holder…already have it loaded with a few rolls.

20140315_4512And a couple packs of beautiful papers…they even saved a fun shopping bag that they knew I’d use. :)

In addition, they brought us back a refrigerator magnet…which is something we ask friends to buy us when they travel. We have magnets from all over the world…it’s nice to have well traveled friends.

I’m off…have to go work my half day but I’ll be back later to visit my blog friends and their T Tuesday posts!

Look at YOU. The gal who shies away from anything oriental. Love the washi tape. I’m in love with that holder AND the tape, as well as the paper. You know me, a paper person.

Thanks for sharing all this fun stuff today. I’m super impressed with what your BIL brought you. Of course, I wouldn’t eat the dried, dead fish, either (grin). Much better left in the package as a fun way to share.

I love your washi tape and especially the holder. Chocolate kit kats are the best but how interesting they have strawberry flavored. It’s nice to try new snack things from other countries, however, I could NOT do the dried whole fish…
Your Japanese papers are just divine and I’m sure you’ll put them to good use! Happy T day.

    Fun treats you have there…
I bet that snack mix with the fishies is VERY fragrant when opened too ;)
Those pretty papers make nice origami dresses…ask me how I know…
If you are like many of us you may need a double decker or super size washi tape holder LOL … that is a beauty!
I already thought of your fridge as fun with how you altered it…
add to that travel magnets = sure sounds cool!
    Happy T day

Oh Halle, I enjoyed your post thoroughly today! I actually leave in two days to visit my brother in Okinawa and have been quite nervous about the trip. But, your post has inspired me just a bit! I want to see strawberry flavored Kit Kats, and NOT dried fish!!

In no way would I ever think of dried fish as a snack, but I bet it tastes better than it looks! You can let me know if you ever get brave enough to open it! The washi tape, holder and paper are much more my speed!

Fun to see your items from Japan. I had to look up Kaiju so now I have a new word to use. Might have to go see a monster movie just to work kaiju into a conversation though, LOL!

    Happy T-Day!
Wow thanks for sharing all those “goodies”. I’ll try some strawberry kitkat. I LOVE kitkat. I know those dried fish are for cooking but I didn’t know that they are snacks. I know what they smell like, so I think I will stick with the kitkat. Beautiful tapes and paper … I would so get them even though they will just sit on the shelf. Oh I do have some sitting on my shelves. : )

Oh I have Washi Tape Holder Envy! Isn’t it gorgeous? I wonder if my cousin would get me one next time he visits his wife’s family in Tokyo. My cousin in law is Japanese. Some of those papers would be nice too!
Sometimes we get to try some Japanese treats and they are often a little strange to our tastebuds. Though I have not tried almond fishies! Nor do I want to!
    Happy Belated T Day!
Now what about a Japanese themed mini album? Just a thought!

We have a japanese shop called daiso here in australia, where you can buy all these strange things from japan, like the snacks and papers and things. It is an interesting place to walk around. Love all your bits. perhaps the cat might like the fish if you have one!
