T Tuesday: laughter, tears and knitting edition

It’s been an eventful week around here. so I think I’ll recap a few of the highlights.

I’ve gotten back in the groove of being creative on a semi-regular basis. First of which is some more work on the stocking hat I’m knitting.

Trust me…one day it will be a hat.

I also made a patchwork infinity scarf.

My original intention was to make something red, white and blue for our Veteran’s Day program at school but these colors spoke to me instead.

Speaking of the Veteran’s Day program. It was amazing! I cried all of my eye makeup off. It was very moving. I hadn’t been witness to a 21 gun salute or the playing of taps since my dad’s internment. Needless to say, I was a mess. I seriously am a fairly stoic person but that got me…as well as the Lee Greenwood song, God Bless the USA….gets me every time…especially when all those vets stood up as the line says “And I gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today”.
The tears were rolling.

I started a journal page…well at least I threw some color at the tissue paper I glued into my journal. It’s a start right!?!

Here’s the next collection of November photo a day pictures.

7. on the floor….me, Marvin and the toy…a little view from his side of things.

8. a place…DQ of course. love that place and its a braizer so it doesn’t close for winter….yes many Dairy Queen stores close over winter around here.

9. Heck yes! …….saw this sign at schoolΒ  “Make your life story so amazing that unicorns have trouble believing it is true.”

10. I do this every day….make and drink coffee.Β  Bam! got my tea Tuesday reference in as well. πŸ™‚

11. A set…my fiestaware of course.

12. normal….my knitting looks normal at least so far.

In other exciting news… J got an acceptance letter from UMD today!! So exciting!!!

What are you doing today??

  1. First, let me start with J’s acceptance into UMD. Pretty awesome for a boy who has had to struggle with being different all his life.

I was crying by the time I finished reading about your Veterans Day experience. It was SO moving. Note to Halle: next year, don’t wear makeup on Veterans Day!

You have been all over the map this week. From knitting to sewing to photography, to journal page, you are doing it all.

Thanks for sharing your photos, etc. with us for T this Tuesday. I was so moved by your Veterans assembly.

A wonderful post to read, you have touched so many subjects.
Your knitting looks super, I liked the wool you are using with all the blended colours and I’m sure your journal page will be super, I has a good base layer.
I was really moved about your Veterans day piece. I watch our National Service of Remembrance on TV every year and its always the same the tears roll every time.
    Happy T day wishes.
    Yvonne xx

  3. What a week you’ve had! The knitting looks wonderful and I adore the patchwork scarf you made – amazing 😁. Reading about your Veterans Day experience had me in tears too, your observations are so poignant and beautiful! I love that background you created with the tissue paper and inks (I think). I hope you don’t mind if I have a go creating something like this myself … Lol πŸ˜‰, thanks for the inspiration! Your photos are always so creative and I love how you captured Marvin’s view on life, purr-fect 😁. It’s really exciting that J got accepted into UMD, many congratulations! Wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊

You have had lots going on. The Veteran’s Day memorial service would def. have had me crying too-those salutes are so emotional and touching. Your infinity scarf is so pretty and you journal is just waiting for collage:) Congrats to J! Your kitty is so sweet and looks very much like the kitty I am sitting for at the moment. Wishing you a happy T day!

Good morning, a beautiful post and I was with you-very touching veterans day. your hat will be gorgeous I know it-hugs Happy T Day Kathy

  7. Sounds like you are finding time for projects even though you are busy. If you are anything like me it is a good way to unwind from work. Love the scarf and the knitting. I have been knitting too and loving the way the needles feel in my hands. πŸ™‚ Wow. Your school Veterans Day program must have been really moving. We don’t do anything at my school. Interesting how in different places things vary. Well I should say we had a moment of silence but that was all. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  8. Well let me just say i think that Veteran program would have got me too.. Love and pride of the good ol’ USA seems to be seriously lacking these days and i think we could use a dose.. Happy T day my dear! Hugs! deb

  9. Halle, you and me both – I would have been a blubbering idiot. I cry for a lot of patriotic songs, for taps, for rifle salutes and whenever I see vets in uniform. You can’t NOT think of what they gave and suffered.

I would say that’s a beautiful start on a journal page. I wish I could just throw some color around and get lovely depth of color and texture like that.

I’m enjoying your daily photo challenge.

Congratulations on your acceptance at UMD! I hope you’ll tell us more. teaching or studying? What field? etc.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

    • Oops, Halle, I didn’t get the connection that it’s your son who got accepted at UMD. So congratulations anyway! Please pass them on πŸ˜‰
