T Tuesday: updates on this and that edition

Welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday.  Since it has been two weeks since my last T Tuesday post, I thought I’d give a few updates on what I’ve been up to.

Let’s dive right in…

I figured I’d start with a garden update since this photo was just so pretty. Whoever thought a potato plant would be pretty. The galvanized planter holds nasturtiums and a volunteer of some sort.

Everything is growing…looking good. It is starting to make me nervous. Every time I have a beautiful garden, some sort of damage happens in the blink of an eye. Hail and pesky deer are the most likely cluprits.

At least this garden should be safe from the deer.

With the addition of the full height gate.

I can’t get over how big the tomatoes have gotten. They all have blossomed with the promise of fruit.

I got outside to water early since the heat and humidity are sky-high for today and tomorrow.

I made a bamboo trellis with little a bunting for each of the large flower pots out front. I decided to plant morning glories and cardinal climbers in the pots this year for something different. I like the height it gives the pots.

I am finally done with school. Distance learning is not fun for anyone…  Since the decision to move to distance learning was made unexpectedly over a weekend, lockers were left untouched. A group of us, over two days, emptied 1600 lockers.

It was a big task but it was awesome to be back in the building. With familiar faces. Talking to people in person.

This locker was empty save the stacks of unused condiment cups. Middle schoolers are weird.

Back at home, I decided to try my hand at pickling eggs. I’m not even sure we’ll like them but time will tell. They need to sit for at 2-4 weeks in the fridge to absorb the flavors.

On Friday, Mini-me had her wisdom teeth removed. She was supposed to get them out 2.5 months ago but…COVID-19 happened, lockdown happened…

She was having a hard time on Saturday so I picked up this beautiful bouquet at the local farmers market to brighten her day. It brightened her spirits but didn’t lessen the swelling. Poor baby…her face was a square. It is still fairly swollen but the pain is lessening.

I’ve been working on some more art journal pages for Art Journal Journey. Did you know I am guest hosting this month? The theme I have chosen is A Stitch in Time.

I’m going to be spending as much time as possible indoors over the next 48 hrs to avoid the heat and humidity. There certainly is plenty to keep me busy.

What are you doing today?

    Hi Halle,
Your garden is doing wonderful! You will have veggies in no time.
Wow that was allot of lockers to empty-and all those cups-that is wierd for sure.
getting wisdom teeth pull is no fun at all-hope the swelling goes down soon.

happy T day Halle. Your garden looks great and really far along compared to mine. And those condiment cups are really fascinating. I wonder what motivated the student to do that. Our lockers got left to custodians to clean out as they didn’t want us in school. and hope Minnie me’s face is better soon.

Hey there dear friend, so glad you got to have real face time with some of your friends from school/work. You had a HUGE job, but it sounds like you were able to find a bit of humor in it, too (like the condiment cups).

Your garden is awesome. You put my few plants to shame. I really like what you have done and I LOVE the bamboo you put together. Great idea, too. I am sure you will soon have a great harvest, probably faster than I will.

Sorry about Mini, but the flowers are great and I LOVE that top for the mason jar. It and the straw really drew my eye into the photo.

Thanks for sharing your last two weeks with us and your mason jar drink receptacle for T this almost Tuesday.

Your garden is doing well, everything looks so green and good. What a job to clear out all those lockers! Hope your daughter soon gets over the teeth-extraction, that’s never pleasant. Happy T Day, Valerie

    A beautiful garden!
But lockers look a bit like from ascience fiction movie to me…
Oh, I havn´t made pickled eggs since a while. With the recipe I use it takes but 3 days to taske good and after a week nearly too strong.
Oh. I have those teeth out, too. Next dentist said it wasn´t necessary….
    Nice flowers indeed, happy T-day!

Your plants and garden look fantastic. You have a Green Thumb! (I have a Black Thumb.) I’m growing a few hot pepper plants this year, but I’m worried the deer will eat the leaves, since they’re not fenced in. Time will tell. It’s good you got to go to the school and see people in person, but I noticed no one is wearing a face mask. Are they not required in your state? Happy T-Day!

Your garden is looking so good! Well done you. It’s good that you have a fence to keep the deer out. We too have a fence around the produce for the deer mainly. But there are also three big dogs (our neighbour’s) roaming around and that should also be a deterrent. (They are outdoor dogs).
I’m sorry to hear Mini-me is so sore. Ibuprofene works wonders. It’s a medicin that we buy over the counter here (and in England even at the supermarket). I don’t know if you have it in the States. But that’s what I would recommend.
It’s great that you were able to go back to school and see some familiar faces. Yes, I realize it was a lot of work, but at least it was a different activity with your brain switched on zero. You’re not wearing masks? Here we have to wear masks everywhere. when you meet with people from outside your household.
I smiled at the condiment cups…I agree, weird!

    Wishing you a happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

It’s been ages since I had nasturtiums. Such pretty leaves and flowers. It looks like y’all have the perfect protection from the deer. Nothing beats a homegrown tomato. I had cardinal flowers once, but a neighborhood child pulled them all up and I can’t find them any more. I probably don’t have enough sun here anyway lol I hope your daughter is past her pain now. Happy T Tuesday!

Your garden looked so good, you will be having wonderful produce from the plants when they fully grow. I hope the fence keeps the deer out, it looks quite a high one.
Having teeth removed anytime is quite an event but during the times we are in now I hope she wasn’t in to much pain waiting and will be feeling more herself again soon.
    Stay safe.

Your plants are doing beautifully, Halle. I love how fast plants like tomatoos and cucumbers grow. You could almost stand and watch them.

The condiment cups must have you all puzzled. The only thing I can think of is obsessive behavior – but why condiment cups?

I’m glad the oral sugery is done. It’s awful waiting and anticipating something like that – at least for me.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen xx

Wow, your garden is looking so beautiful! All those plants look so green and lush ?. Emptying all those lockers was quite an undertaking, not sure why you would need all those condiment cups …lol ?. I’ve always wanted to try pickled eggs and the ones you made look amazing. Wow your garden looks amazing. We get sooooo much rain and wind here that even though my garden is growing and flowering it seems to take longer for plants to produce. Thanks for sharing your garden. Happy T

I loved seeing your garden. It looked so pretty with all the neat rows of plants. And what a great idea to create bunting for your pots. Such a little artistic touch!
That was sweet of you to get flowers for your daughter. Recovering from oral surgery is no fun.
I have never had pickled eggs but it is a big thing around here (Amish and PA dutch). I hope they turn out for you.
    Happy Tea Day,

Halle your garden is certainly blooming, plenty going on, Steve grows cherry tomatoes as they seem to grow better here, he didn’t have much success with the bigger ones although he grew them in the UK.
I hope your Daughter is feeling better today, I think I was lucky when I had mine done as I didn’t ahve any problems.
Have a good week in your beautiful garden.

I love your garden and potted herbs? on your deck. Those peonies are exquisite. My granddaughter, a 6th grader, was given a designated time to to clean out her locker. Only 4 kids an hour were let in and she was only given 1/2 hour to do it..

Your garden is looking so good! I wish I had been aware that lockdown would be for so long – we have been home to water and I could have grown tomatoes on our balcony. Sorry that Mini – me is in pain, hope it passes soon! That cup lined locker is so funny – like an old fashioned listening booth! The week has run away with me so…Very belated T Day wishes, Chrisx
