T Tuesday: birthday edition

Last updated : April 10, 2016

For this Labor Day, we hosted a gathering to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday. Of course there was more than plenty of food, wine and dessert. I have a hard time scaling back the menu.T Tuesday birthday edition

I didn’t remember to nab a photo of the before…only this small after shot of empty wine glasses so I could keep up appearance here with T stands for Tuesday. I won’t scare you with the rest of the dirty dishes. I love hosting…I just wish there were fairies or elves that would clean up while I slept.

Anyway, back to the celebration. My FIL and I have a long standing joke that gets played out each year on his birthday. He made fun of me taking photos of “weeds” during some downtime at one of Big J’s lacrosse games several years ago.  I said they were wildflowers but he saw weeds. So in response to his teasing, each year I give him a handmade card with a photo of a weed on it for his birthday.

OH how we love puns.

I’ll be mowing today…hopefully pop by knitting and *fingers crossed* receive a very important phone call. More on that one next week.

What are you doing today?

PS….mom’s cataract surgery went well!  She got a bit mixed up with the drops the first day but I made her a new chart which made things much easier for her. She’s had two follow-up appts and she can now see 20/40 with no glasses and passed her drivers license eye test with flying colors.

Thistle be a birthday your FIL won’t soon forget. I love puns, too!

I can tell the glass is dirty because I see the dregs of red wine in one. I think it’s quite clever of you and great that you remembered to take a photo.

Glad to read about your mom’s surgery and recovery. That’s great news.

Thanks for sharing your dirty wine glasses and birthday card with us for T this week. You don’t have to ask what I’ll be doing tomorrow. It involves going to Sally’s and helping her clean and purge things in her house and garage.

What a lovely ‘weed’ photo. I love the pun! Your FIL will love it I’m sure.
How great that your mum past her driving licence eye test. There’s nothing worse than not being able to drive anywhere.
You made me real curious now with your mention of an important phone call. I hope you get it.

Hello and Happy T Day! What a cute story about your FIL the card is beautiful! I love weeds/wildflowers more then any others. The sentiments made me laugh, good job to your husband.

SO GOOD to hear about your mom!!! I was going to ask so thank you for sharing it here for us. I will need new glasses soon, getting harder to see and focus on reading for too long.

Happy mowing and getting that important phone call today.

Congrats on your mom’s successful surgery!

What a fun tradition with the cards. I believe a weed is just a plant growing where someone doesn’t want it :)

What a fun and clever card.
I bet your fil looks forward to what you’ve got up your sleeve every year!
Great news about your Mom…navigating all the meds after surgery can get a bit daunting. Just putting drops in your own eyes (me putting drops in mine!) was way challenging when I had the surgery LOL.
    Happy T Day Halle.
Thanks for popping by my Magpie’s Nest. Golden Milk is a yummy treat.
