Cross that project off my list.

I was shocked to see I’m already at 300!

This ATC is made of items that would have been recycled anyway. My way has a little more visual appeal. I used a cereal box, a wallpaper sample and green magazine images. I decided to sew the wallpaper to the cereal box so I wouldn’t have to use glue. Of course I could have cut letters from the magazine to spell my message but a white gel pen was so much quicker.

I’m still working on busy bags for my friend’s church. Slowly but surely I’ll get a dozen made. This one was made from another part of the denim slipcover I recently cut up. The quilt block came in a scrap bag I inherited. I decided to try out one of the “fancy” stitches on my machine to sew it on. I like the contrast of the red thread.

When my husband got his new mini computer for work he mentioned that he really needed something to protect it from scratches and such during transport.
I immediately thought of using a denim jeans leg. I quickly made one up but discovered the denim just wasn’t thick enough.
Then I remembered these camo pants legs I had and the matching belt piece from yet another pair of pants. The original denim pants leg is the lining inside the camo. I also put some light weight foam at the bottom so the mini computer would have some cushion.

I really happy with the result and it cost me nothing but the electricity to run the sewing machine.

I made some more paper beads this morning. I could make these all day if left to my own devices but that just doesn’t happen around here.

I also made up another “busy bag“.

I cut a denim slipcover from an old chair for the back and handles. The lining is cut from an old tablecloth that had a couple stains in all the wrong places.
I love recycling!!!!

I made a couple more “busy bags” this morning after the kids dentist appointment.

Between lunch and another appointment, I took our boy and a neighbor kid sledding to a near by, awesomely big and fast sledding hill. A photographer for the local newspaper was there snapping photos…we’ll have to wait and see if our kiddo makes the paper.

I’ve been so inspired by the Quilts & ATC’s blog. This wonderful woman is sew generous…I had to do it..sorry.

I have a ton of fabric and would love to put it use. I had been searching the web looking for local organizations that accepted small quilts for families in crisis, hospital patients or other charity when my friend, Andrea mentioned that her church was looking to put together some “busy bags” for the small children so use during church services. Their main sticking point was having to buy bags of the appropriate size. It was just meant to be…funny how things work like that. It’s also more meaningful to me since our daughter was Baptized in that church.
