I swear I’m still full from Thanksgiving dinner! Ok…that’s a bit of a stretch but geesh. Too much leftovers and too many days off. Making me soft(er).

I’ll start with a little catch-up on my Photo a day challenge. I got several days behind but have gotten caught up now.

13. Letters….just one important one. UMD acceptance letter for J.

14. For me….just a little treat of apples in caramel dip. YUM!!

15. Hot + Cold…sometimes I’m a two-fisted drinker. :)

16. After…after a long day at work it’s nice to put my feet up a bit.

17. Cooking…I unexpectedly cooked Thanksgiving dinner this year.

18. I love this…Grandma’s dishes.

19. Whole….it was a whole pie….a whole lotta yummy. :)

20. Bright….the setting sun through my window.

21. Shoes….I have a love/hate relationship with these. I love them (so cute) but my feet hate me when I wear them all day at work.

I discovered mt latest obsession craft on Pinterest yesterday.

Fabric star ornaments. I found the link to the original tutorial but it was in Dutch I believe. It had great photos but I was missing something in my understanding. Then I found the tutorial by Betz White that finally cleared things up for me.

I’m considering putting a button on both sides with either hot glue or tied through with embroidery thread.  Not sure but I do know I’ll be making more.

The school I work at is having a holiday boutique for staff so I’ll be bringing my crafts in. I’m so excited both to make a little Christmas cash and to see what crafts my coworkers like to do.

My baby girl starts drivers ed Tuesday…I can hardly fathom it. She’ll get her classroom instruction done just before her 15th birthday but she’ll have to wait until the New Year to take her permit test. That girl is ready to get behind the wheel….me, not so much.

Tuesday holds work of course and a choir concert…at my school. Mini-me’s choir is singing at the middle school. I think they send the high school choirs to perform periodically to keep the younger ones interested in continuing through their school career.

What are you doing today?

I’ve fallen a bit behind with T stands for Tuesday in both posting and visiting. I blame it on the holidays and birthdays this time of year. Time seems to slip through my fingers like sand through an hourglass.

I did finish up an art journal page on Christmas morning while we were trying to determine if we’d have to delay our family get together due to the sheet of ice covering everything. Instead of worrying, I created. grateful heart

The words reflect what I was feeling.

grateful heart

I even included a coffee cup as each morning I start my day with that as well.

Today will be spent on laundry, sewing, maybe a bit of shopping and quality time with my girl.

I was inspired to create this page after the Holiday choir concert J took part in at his school. The holiday concert is always a highlight of the season but this one felt a little more special. The school went through a rough time just a couple days before and this beautiful concert was a first step in healing and moving forward…erasing the ugly and replacing it with good.music shines through

Yes I know some of my letters are wonky. I’m totally ok with that. It shows yet another way we can turn things around,

The image is cut from a Thomas Kinkade Christmas card…it just worked perfectly to reflect my theme.

I used my sewing machine to stitch it down.

After a little post-Christmas cleanup, I rediscovered my worktable. Sad but true…it had been buried under things I was setting there “just for the moment”. I should know that means weeks around the holidays.

Never being one to leave an open space open for along…I grabbed my Gypsy journal and began this new journal page.

I used some of my favorite techniques. They are my go-to whenever I’m feeling the creative bent but not knowing the direction I’d like to go.

My go-to formula is drywall tape for the background, a focal image of a person and found text to end it off.

I really enjoy creating little tales such as this one. Even though it may not make any sense to others…it makes me smile none the less.

Do you have go-to techniques that are seen in your work over and over? I used to think this was a bad thing as I wasn’t growing artistically. I now see that that for me, using similar techniques over and over actually help me grow creatively.

What is your favorite technique?

Thanks for stopping by for another edition of T stands for Tuesday!  T stands for Tuesday_200

After several glorious days of way above normal temps that took away all of our snow…the cold has returned and as well as the snow. And the bonus…there is a wonderful layer of ice underneath. Treacherous driving conditions today for sure. Too bad I had to drive J to school this morning when his bus never showed…20141216_7343

I’m having a cup of tea….Earl Grey…while I get some work done preparing for Christmas Eve and Day that we’ll be hosting here.

Notice the goblet behind…there is quite a story behind that one involving one finicky Miss Gracie. This table is the only one she is allowed on in the house and she respects that rule completely. You see, it’s an endtable that sits under the front window adjacent to her cat perch and scratching post.  I tend to sit on the couch next to the table such as today with my tea. A few weeks ago I spied her drinking out of my water glass on that table repeatedly. Ewww. She doesn’t typically drink enough water so this was a good sign…except, again…ewww…my water. So I went to Goodwill and bought her a fancy goblet of her very own to drink from. She loves it and now hopefully will be more healthy with a proper amount of water. IMG_0042

Last evening was the Holiday concert at the high school. This being our first year with a high schooler we didn’t know what to expect. It was beautiful. I was amazed at how many students participate in choir. For the final number they had all of the choirs on stage together plus invited an alumni(only 4 yrs worth)to join in singing the traditional closing song. There we so many kids that they were in the wings of the theatre. So awesome!

My gorgeous poinsettia from the concert. A wonderful but late night…for a school night.

Today…back to reality. Housework, baking, wrapping the last couple gifts and checking the packing mini-me did for her 6th grade trip tomorrow.

–I don’t remember wearing rubber boots but I definitely had MOON BOOTS!!! One of my neighbors has Moon Boots now!!!

9.You had either a “bowl cut” or! “pixie,” not to mention the “Dorothy
Hamil” because your Mom was sick of braiding your hair .
–I had a “Pixie” after my cousin tied me to a chair and cut my hair…no lie…she did!! I was 4…she was 5…I got spanked for letting her do it…she got a “talking to”….really….  No, I’m not bitter. :)
She is more of a sister to me than I’ve ever had, so …oh well…we shouldn’t have been left to our own devices that long at that age….

10.People sometimes thought you were a boy.
–After the “Pixie” and wearing a baseball hat, I’d have to forgive anyone who might have thought so.

kept it “pretty” with the comb you kept in your back pocket.
–Oh had totally forgotten about the comb in the back pocket! I had a white one.
My hair never feathered right. My natural wave/curl always worked against me in those days.

Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.
–They smelled so good. I was very jealous of my cousin when she got them for Christmas!

Hazzard was your boyfriend, (and you wanted your first car to be a jeep

25.Every now and then “It’s a Hard Knock Life” from the movie, “Annie”

   –Yep…dang…there it is again…AGH!

32.You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable
tape player up to the speaker.

33.You couldn’t wait to get the free animal poster that came when you
