Taking chances

I had so much fun making this page! It didn’t go the way I planned…like at all but in reality I didn’t have much of a plan. I’m really enjoying blue and orange lately. I used gelatos over the top of a scrappy background that was glued down with ModPodge. I’m not a fan of this glue but I’m using what I have. The thing I do like is that once the surface is sealed with the ModPodge the gelatos move and blend so beautifully. That being said…if you don’t then seal them down with something they will just keep on moving and blending with subsequent layers. So I tried something…I used a foam brush and gently covered the page with another coat of the ModPodge. Shockingly it worked…other than the surface is a very plastic feel. Yet I pressed on.

I added black craft paint through a stencil then some washi tape. I ended up using the washi tape to cover some words I was originally planning to use. They fit in the beginning but by the end my thoughts had changed.

This sticker felt right and I couldn’t agree more. I added a bit of scribbling randomly around the page and a bit of journalling before calling this page a done deal.

Art Journal Journey

Linking up with Art Journal Journey today for the November theme of Collage….but no faces, wings or leaves are allowed. It’s funny how often those things are used in my collages…and I’m sure many others have that same issue. :)

Yes, there are usually lot of wings, faces and leaves used, so this time we took them out! Love what you made, great colour, too. Thanks for joining us again at AJJ, hugs, Valerie

Such a fantastic page – I can see why you are drawn to use that colour palette, I really like the blue and orange too! Your textures as always are fantastic and I love creating pages without a plan too. I’m not sure a page ever goes to plan either… lol, for me that’s what makes journaling so much fun :-). Love your post and art today. Wishing you a happy week! J :-)

I’ve never owned gelatos, but they sound like they have to be sealed, just like pan pastels. I also like that color combination, because it feels clean and bright. This has been a real challenge, hasn’t it? I really like how you treated it as an abstract.

This is such a fantastic collaged page… I am thrilled about it Halle!Deisgn and colors are just BRILLIANT!
Sealing in between layers is boring but it is often worth to do… I am sorry that I am so often unpatient.
Thank you so much for this fabulous entry to the no no no theme. But I know we are all clever enough to fit the challenge!

    Happy weekend to you!

So much texture – this is a wonderful collage! The quote fits perfect. Yes, it is a good challenge to look, how often we use faces, leaves and wings in our art.

I’m not a fan of Mod Podge either, and am trying to use mine up and move on to a better medium.
With that being said I adore your AJJ page!
